I've a couple of box mods in mind and so I'm trying to remember all the electronics I forgot thirty years ago...and I'm thinking it might be simpler to buy this kit from Liberty Flights www.madvapes.com/Variable-Voltage-Regulator-Board-Kit-Rev-2_p_2994.htmlAnyone have any experience of, or opinion on, it? I'm more interested in the box design than the gubbins at the moment, so I'd like something cheap and simple I can put together quickly and use as a test rig in the prototype boxes. Is this kit it?

IMHO it is not worth the money. I have got one and it is basically a 3A variable voltage regulator with a few resistors. It is their NCP630A 3 Amp Adjustable Regulator with the addition of "2 resistors a Variable resistor and a little printed circuit board" for an extra £3.50. You can get the parts cheaper elsewhere. It does not even come with any guidance or instructions so you'll not know what to do with them if your a novice (I know you said your trying to remember what you did ..... years ago so not calling you a novice)

Thanks. Ebay it is, then. I was going to ask the dimensions of the LM2596 board, then I looked again at the price and thought I may as well just buy a few and play with them. Then I stopped looking at the price and saw the dimensions are on the photo. # # And I do feel like a novice at the moment: it's frightening how much I've managed to forget by moving from hardware to software. I'm pretty sure I could source the parts and assemble a board, but at the Ebay price, I don't think I'll bother.
