i want to make a plinth that fits onto the ego cone thread on my argento that is fat enuff from top to bottom so that when i fit a 6ml smoktek tank it looks straightish, unlike the flared plinth for the ego battery with a large tank i want it the width it is at the top or slightly less but all the way down almost creating the effect you get from the skirt on the stardust. anyway my question is does anyone have any ideas on how i could go about it and what material i should use. ideally i would love aluminium but i wont have the correct tools to to mill something like this ???

If you're doing it in wood, then unless you want it perfectly cylindrical you'll want to use a lathe. If you do want it cylindrical, and it's just a skirt (i.e. not a threaded connector), then all you need is a saw and a drill, assuming you can find a wooden rod in the right size. If you want it threaded, then you'll need either a very fine wood tap (and you'd be lucky to find one in the right size) or a piece of threaded metal to glue inside the wooden cylinder.

Actually, if it's unthreaded and tapered, and you know the precise dimensions you need, then I've probably got a bit of gash walnut sitting about that I might be able to turn down for you.

i found a random bit of copper at the building site i work on so i sanded it clean and cut it down with a pipe cutter and smoothed off the edges then jus stuck it between and it jus sits there nicely without any rattle. beginners dumb luck i guess

If you're going to market it, better delete the post where you said how you made it. Replace it with "custom-built from the finest construction-grade copper tubing (as used in Buckingham Palace), precision cut and polished by a skilled craftsman".

Team up with Queenie Bee to get it etched and you could sell it as.... "custom-built from the finest construction-grade copper tubing (as used in Buckingham Palace), precision cut and polished by a skilled craftsman then lovingly hand-etched to a unique design by our artist in residence"
