Wow - bargain macca. I've often thought about getting a PCC, but this will do nicely!

Has anyone tried this type of thing before? I have 3 such devices and only one of them registers as being able to charge the eGo battery.

This is just a two AA battery holder with a fixed boost circuit to output 5v and 500 ma and a USB socket.
Is that what you got?

I have ones with Li-pol batteries in them, same type of system as that with a usb 500ma output, the only one that works is one with a 2600mah battery in it, for some reason the others just wont charge the eGo batteries, but they do my phone fine
It could be that the step up voltage out of them is just a bit unstable for the eGo charget to take.
Though I do like the idea that I could just pop in anywhere and pick up some AA batteries to charge my phone or eGo. particularly if it was on my keyring

You can put a parallel 14500 arrangement and make a VV mod I guess by replacing the circuitry.. I'll stick to my NiMh VV device which works very well for home use and atty mods..

I will tell you how I get on with it Macca. I have some coming from fleabay plus some other thing, am going to be testing them all to try to find something that is a good backup while off the grid like camping.

Got mine this morning and just shoved a couple of normal AA batteries in it until I get the higher capacity ones and it seems to work fine. It even doubles up as a torch!
