After your story Colli I was welling up- just went downstairs and heard my Dad talking on the "phone", wondered what he was doing so went to have a look and he was Skype ing a cousin he's never met and he's so pleased to have finally met his cousin even if it was over the internet , my Dad never met any of his cousins until he was in his fifties now he's met two at the ripe old age of 64! Think fathers day has come early in two U.K houses this summer .

I miss my Dad more than anything His smoking meant he never met my kids. He would have made a great granddad too. Just goes to show, we aren't all around for ever, we should make the most of family while we can.

never a downer womble i am following this thread i guess because i wrote down how i felt tonight and then pasted to here with a sod the consequence thought of me being a softy but from the heart it came and will stay I have never fallen out with my family we were just never close but the last year or so my dad and i got close and the rest just made the whole thing so much good for today and made me realize what i have been missing for all these years.
Now is the time to make things better with all of mine.
sorry your dad isnt around bet he was a goodun.
i just think i have had a bit of a moment that needs to be a momentum

Families are very important, like Womble, my Dad through smoking never met my daughter, or half of his grandchildren or great-grandchildren, thankfully Mom is still here, and we try to get together for her birthdays

My Dad only had 2 years with my son, but he did leave him a lovely letter to read and keep as he grows up.

My Granny used to say You only get one mum and I never understood until I was a bit older what she really meant.
When things with me and my mum get tough I always think back to this saying and it is a very true saying which has kept us together through the good and the bad.
My Granny died of cancer when I was 14 and 2 of my aunties didnt talk to her for many years and on her death bed they made amends but one of the aunties died of alcoholism a few year later and my other auntie who didnt talk to her for all those years regrets everyday she lost with her mum and for many years couldnt face going out.
So I think what my Granny meant was don't waste a day because you will never be able to get it back.
I hope this makes sence im not the best at expressing myself :/
