About (cough cough) thirty odd years ago I was in a car accident I went through the windscreen, no seat belt law in them days My only injuries were facial and I was patched up with 30 odd stitches. Over the years bits of windscreen glass have worked their way out inside my mouth. A few weeks ago I got bad gum abscess which after x-rays were taken turned out to be cause by yet another piece of screen. On Friday I went to hospital to have it removed, not sure if I would have been better using Auto Glass mind After the surgeon had cut & dug around for what seemed an age out came a quarter inch chunk of MKl Ford Cortina windscreen.... tax had run out though Anyway while having pre-op discussions I was asked if I smoked and for the first time I was able to proudly announce no I've given up....... it made me feel very smug

Wow Annie that's hell of a story I've heard of boxers having a glass jaw but... wow. I had reason to tell my doc about giving up recently. That smugness feels great doesn't it?

Shocked by your story, never thought I would read one like that, those stories are usually in newspapers

Nope still some left but not causing any problems, so not intending to evict them at present and they are by my ear so my hair covers the little squatters up. They would have to be removed by incisions on my face which would be more scars, the piece on Fri was removed through an incision in my mouth

My Ex boyfriend often got parts of his cavalier popping up in his mouth too its funny how it hides away for years then pops up in an abscess altho that was quite a large piece you got removed his were usually just splinters Hope you don't have to get any more removed Annie

Funny you should say this now. last week I had an itch on my head that would not go. Well after a lot of trying to see in the mirror and scratching/picking, out poped a bit of my Golf windscreen from about 7 years ago. I really liked that car

It was a lovely MkII GTi but after a blow out, many spins, turning into many rolls ending up on the roof facing the crash barrier of the M5 southbound it looked like a DeLorean than a Golf lol.

Wow - that would freak me out having bits of glass emerge from my face years after an accident. I have a bit of berberis thorn stuck in the base of my hand from falling into a brerberis hedge in my drunken youth. Though I dug out most of them at the time with a needle that one is too deep to get out, but still visible. I wouldn't mind if it decided to eject itself.
