off topic a tad but in last nights million pound drop, davina McCall stated after a question where the right answer was about the bus incident that her father and sister (or something like that) are using ecigs to quit and they are working for them.
so it was a bit of a good plug.
all publicity is good publicity, the bus incident will imo only do good for vaping, apart from some muppet will want to tax it when it really catches on.

not really as public awareness of such a product will mean that M6 bus incidents wont happen again and you never know but the general public may even understand exactly what an e-cig is and reduce the stigma associated with us vapers

My comment wasn't limited to the context of vaping.

Examples which prove my point -

The only time when the phrase "all publicity is good publicity" is true is where the only goal is for you name to be heard regardless of whether it is in a good or bad context - where the goal is fame regardless of whether it is in a positive or negative or positive light.

In the context of consumer products, for all publicity to be turned into good publicity it has to be managed and spun. Leaving it open to the randomness of public opinion and media bias is like playing russian roulette. Even without a pre-existing bias, whatever journalists write or say is going to be informed by the most easily available info which, unless there is a concerted effort to put the correct info in front of them is likely to be info coming from parties that have a vested interest in undermining ecigs since they have more money, are more media savvy and are better organised.

in the case of ecigs i still think all publicity is good publicity, as it makes people aware, which means good for the cause.
if the publicity is negative as in the sun then it is still good as it makes x million people aware of something they didnt know about and they can make up there own mind.
glitter still managed to sell his song rights for a small fortune.
ratner is still very rich
BP are i believe still the biggest in there market.
the 3 you quote all shot themselves in the foot, vaping only had something dropped on its toe.
all is just my opinion of course.

Publicity is publicity - it's how you handle it that counts. Hopefully, this exposure will persuade folks to use their e-cigs openly and understand that they're not doing anything to be ashamed of or that needs hiding.

You know what they say..all publicity is good publicity.

I am kind of happy to see e cigs making the news, even when it is in a negative manner, because usually anything negative is based on some misunderstanding of e cigs, that then gets cleared up by all the existing vapers who set the record straight. If it didnt make the news at all, we wouldnt get the chance to answer back and get the truth out there.

It will be great once everyone knows what e cigs are, and how much healthier they are than tobacco smoking.
