Have you ever put something into a search engine on the Internet like google, and hit the find button only to see the results and realize what you have put in. For example. I like the tv series "The Big Bang Theory" I was thinking of getting the music of the band who plays the theme music. So I searched and found the bands name, I then proceeded to put that said bands name into the search engine to see what albums they have made. My jaw dropped open when I saw the result all because I missed out the word "The" For those of you who don't know the series or the bands name they are called "THE Barenaked Ladies" All I can say is that I am glad I am not a prude, and that one of those young girls looked cold Have you typed something innocently and not realized what you have put, or even did a little misspelling for the results to be totally not what you wanted?

...this is going back a number of years, but I worked in a computer shop, and we had a social worker come in to look at a new PC and find out all about the Internet and how to "search". The chap had a lot of local teen projects, and also wanted to set up a little site to promote the work they did and a link to few local council supported projects.
Well, turned my back for less than 1 minute, I forget the exact term, but it contained teens - for those that have seen the film Roger Rabbit, the animated eyes and jaws were unreal - very embarrassing, and I dare to say put him of using or going anywhere near a PC for a long time! :-[

yes, some one asked the other day about vape pipes, so of course wanting to see what these looked liked off i went to google. "vape pipes" images. Had a little scroll down seeing all the drug devices and half naked women modeling them when I heard an ah-hum. Turned round to see my boss (who is also dad) looking very unimpressed!! Luckily i was on lunch at the time and still had the page with the guy asking about them open so managed to blag to way out of it!!
Of course there has also been to searches that throw up an unbelieveable amount of "in-apropiate" content!!!

I can't really remember having this happen but I've been using search engines since they were invented - the early days of the internet it could take hours for the "crawlers" to return info to you. This means I probably type search stuff in differently. If I was to search for the band I would automatically use "barenaked ladies band", just me and I've noticed most computer geeky types of my experience are also quite specific when searching since the more open a term you use the wider the results. Incidentally the search done using my method returns the bands wiki page as the first result. This link might give you some interesting changes to how you search.

I don't look upon it as a pitfall, I look upon it as a life educator. Till my kids start googling by themselves, then it will be a PITA.
