Well this all went horribly wrong
I was about to post on a topic that isn't there anymore ???
Well lucky I hit ctrl-c - just my view thus far:
After smoking for 17 years and 1 disposable e-cig later........My GP was saying that the current study over here was that only 1 in 20 people are successful at a smoking cessation prescription, costing between £250 - £2000 for the NHS. That's a major failure rate, and an expensive one.
My GP can not recommend an e-ciggerette officially, but he has now noticed long term smokers who are able to swap almost instantly without consequence, and improve health issues
(some of which have nothing to do with smoking) and remove health issues and long term effects related to smoking.
He also thinks they're brilliant and very innovative
(he likes gadgets), it is probably to conclude that e-cigs could be saving the NHS millions over the few years they have taken off. I'm quite sure dentists will also see a vast improvement of those patients switching from smoking to e-cigs.
I just hope money and power don't cloud common sense and improved health. We boil a caffeine brew without question, and we seem to be able to drink to excess cheaply without social consequence, yet we all know and here how harmful alcohol is, not only the social issues in town centres, but family and personal issues that can develop and long term health issues - it's not like e-cigs
promote themselves to non smokers. Yet it is deemed normal and acceptable for an 18 year old to go to a pub for their first drink, despite the majority drinking well before they reach the legal age
People will always start smoking, like people will always have a drink or try something they shouldn't really try, it is the way of the world and human nature, peer pressure and general curiosity, I am doubtful if anyone on these forums knows of anyone who has come to Vape as a non-smoker ???
Personally, I think it's great, a healthier alternative, and so far no deemed long term effects especially in comparison to smoking!
This should be deemed as great, deemed as good, something to encourage and be pleased about. Thousands and thousands of individual smokers and turning to something healthier
E-cigs have spawned healthy interactive communities like this forum and many others, entrepreneurs have sported new brands, and retail shops both in the high-street and online have popped up catering for everyone. You'll also find that these vendors are very approachable, have very good ethics, good customer service and will go above and beyond their provided service, a credit to the UK business community and economy.
As for laws and legal issues, they will always be a tangled mess of red-tape bureaucracy, not something the average individual can comprehend or alter.
As with everything, things do evolve, this may just be the evolution from smoking - to vaping, taking it to a newer level and a healthier level, long may it continue and may these forums and communities thrive!
Yikes I don't half ramble on occasions
