I remember when I was a kid my parents telling me this. It was something that is applicable throughout life. I bet that a lot of you (myself included) have said or types something and the instant after you have said it or hit send, you really wish you hadn’t or you realise how obvious what you have said is.
My latest encounter of this is to do with the well known electrical store that sounds a lot like an Indian food dish.
My phones are on the blink, they are very old and in a slightly enraged moment one of them happened to encounter the work top in the kitchen with some velocity need less to say that after that encounter they were temperamental at best, but mainly they did not work.
I went online and found a very good deal on a replacement set which came with 2 handsets and had a built in answer machine. I ordered and got emails from the company at each stage of its progress, even to the point of getting one to say that the package is being delivered within the next 4 hrs. I received them and all was great, until I tried to use them. The handsets will not register with the base and the base seems to be unresponsive to any button that is pressed. I contacted the company through their on line help request form. Today I got their reply, can you guess what it said?
This is a copy and paste
Thank you for your email.
We are sorry to hear that the MagicBOX Monde Digital Cordless Telephone Twin Set you purchased from us has developed a fault and apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you. Please be assured that as a company we aim to provide the highest quality products and services at all times.
Please Contact our Knowhow team on 0844 561 1234 who will assist further in resolving this issue.
As you can see, asking someone that has a problem with the phones not working to call them to try and fix it, is a bit of a boo boo.
I am about to send them a reply email pointing out that though I would call them but if I could call them I would have no need to call them as the phones would be working.

It reminds me of a time when my debit card got swallowed up in a cash machine, and I stormed into the bank (probably thought I was going to rob them), the lady behind the desk asserted herself seeing that I was quite cross, and asked "can I help you?" I replied, quite crossly, and fairly loudly, "My Debit Card Has Just Swallowed Your Cash Machine"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The lady smiled, and said, I think maybe our cash machine has swallowed your cash card.....never mind sir, step this way and we'll get things sorted for you right away! Cue shrinking sound effect and red face :-[ Still got it sorted, everyone had a good laugh too My mother always told me "think before you speak" - still doesn't work to this day I mean no harm, nor do I mean to cause offense, or aim to be silly or stupid, - but it does happen
