Hi and many many thanks for a very warm welcome. And thanks chrissie for sorting that out. And sue, I know what you mean about rescue dogs. Our greyhounds are rescue and had serious problems when we got them, but alot of patients have turned then completley around. Too many dogs wanting loving homes for me to ever go to a dog breeder. Ever. I have to say there are some great pet photos on this forum. And clearly much loved. And that is great.
For the cat lovers, heres a picture of larry from work who lives in our office as we look after him.

Yep Jay, i agree we have always had rescue dogs mostly Labradors would sooner save a life than go & buy one from a breeder Milo actually came from a Greyhound rescue in Great Yarmouth i saw him on the internet on a Springer rescue site & we drove down from Scotland to get him He was alot of hard work as he had been beaten badly & he never knew what affection was so that terrified him too. It was so sad His way of dealing with his fear was to threaten to bite you & could be pretty scary But gradually just taking it very slowly (baby steps) he came around we would get friends to give him a treat when they came into the house just give him a treat then ignore him so that he could make friends on his terms If he wanted to go to them he could & he would get a nice tummy rub & a treat I'm proud to say he is now one of the most friendly dogs you could ever meet he just adores people when we get visitors he is right up on the sofa in their lap looking for hugs It's so rewarding seeing him so happy & he is now getting the love he truly deserves I must add i so wish breeders would vet the people they are selling dog's to, Milo was given to a young couple who wanted a "little designer dog" "then he grew into this big dog & it would break my nails walking him so he never got walked" & that was what the (barbie-doll) owner told the rescue! So that breeder was definately just after the money they should be shot!

Sue, when we got rex the larger of the two greyhounds. We had him for a good few weeks before he was left on his own. But of course the time came when we had to. It was for a few hours. We decided to shut the girlies upstairs, and leave rex downstairs. We came back to a wrecked house. And I mean wrecked, massive damage, silk curtains ripped of the wall, doors, door frames all splintrrrd. The next time we through caution to the wind and let aldogs have a free run of the house and we never looked back. Now much further down the line, they repay us everyday for our patients.
