ECCA has been approached by The Times newspaper to help out with a 16 page supplement to be included in a future issue of the paper. The supplement is going to be about e-cigs

So ECCA would like your help.

What would you like to see in this supplement?

A few suggestions I came up with...

User reviews ?
Mini e-cigs ?
Moving onto bigger e-cigs ?
Feature on the Internet community?
Pros/cons compared to prescribed NRT ?
Whats the point to World Vaping Day?
All of the above?

Why couldn't we think of a better name than vaping ? lol

Wow what a chance to raise the publics awareness ok when I started vaping I found a lot of scare stories of what actually went into the e liquid so my suggestion would be to demystify this aspect with a what's in it etc also battery life heavy smokers would need bigger batteries all the obvious things to use vapers in laymans terms and above all the most important IMO the fact that ecigs have such a variety in both flavours and set up which we never had with tobacco. A list of abbreviations and meaning maybe consider . Think that's about all may add later if my brain comes up with anything .

with 16 pages quite a bit of stuff could be covered but we must remember the most benefit from something like this is to increase public awareness that such a product exists illustrating its real health benefits and effectiveness as a viable alternative to smoking.

for many smokers they see an e-cig as a toy, a wanna be cigarette if you will, so to disperse these myths with featured success stories would be a great idea. preferably one that involved a slightly better e-cig model like an ego rather than the usual cig-e-like or disposable that often disappoint smokers from looking any further into the world of vaping.

advice on where to go if the article takes anyone's interest is of uppermost importance but i dont know how this can be done without directing them at a vendor which they probably wouldnt do i kinda wish there was an A-Z of e-cigs web site but i dont know of one

you could also maybe get the Times to do some leg work and approach certain authorities to see where they feel the future of e-cigs is going

Why dont they get opinions from several users?

Could take the views of vapers at varying levels. For instance, up to 3 months, 6 months, 12 months and over 12 months.

Would be extra handy if they could include a link to the various forums available. AAE-C. UKV. ECF.

I like the idea of including the forum links for further/more indepth information. Although not everyone is internet/ forum savvy and would maybe prefer direct links to vendors... question on that would be which vendors though? Cant really choose one without another. Most are happy to accept phone orders these days. So maybe Safercigs as he was voted vendor of the year on UKV?

The tax man is probably already stirring Des More and more people are starting to hear about vaping, see vaping and try vaping. We know that by the amount of people we got joining the fourm recently. I think at the moment though while we are still unclassified as to medical or tobacco we pay VAT so not much else for them to put on it ... yet!

I think I'd also cover the financial aspect of it too, money that can be saved (if you don't read the forums lol) and that sort of thing.

Flavours a good idea too, pointing out the great "sweet makes children wanna do it" debate.

Should it be smoking cessasation or an alternative arguement could be good too.

Pub chains that have banned e-cigs and their reasons why.

Maybe a few quotes from that Doctor who did the conference video Macca linked too as well. The health benifits of switching.

Failure rates of traditional NRT V e-cigs.

I did ask when it was due out when it was mentioned in the meeting and the date was unknown but I shall be letting you know when I hear anything

Im thinking including a bunch of links is kinda defeating the whole idea of having an article in a newspaper that will allow access to a whole different audience.

a straight forward easy to understand briefing of what an e-cig is and the benefits to health and wallet
a personal experience story or two would be great
along with a mention of a few e-cig models so people could google for them

I think an approximate count of actual users in the UK should be included , I know it's difficult but a ball park figure of xxx . Somebody somewhere must have an idea .

If it's going public , surely anyone reading would like to know how many people have successfully switched , and that could encourage others to try

i think just putting the idea in their mind would be good enough Storm ...im guessing alot of smokers would like to quit and have tried the various NRT. introduce them to an alternative and like us they will give it a go. so long as the introduction is nice and simple
