I haven't got round to it I'm afraid Sandra, with Penelope it's got pushed onto the back burner. :-[ I have to be in the right frame of mind to explore uncharted vaping territory. I think we should start a countdown for the DID Perpy. Here we go: 10...

Esme, I'm so pleased that Blakey is close and able to help you, in a few days time yours will be running better than anyone's, I've tinkered with mine again, all the while picking up pieces of ceramic off the floor and trying to slot them back in and I turned the ceramic housing like Blakey said and made what i think is a much better coil...getting amazing TH, flavour and vapour now, she is worth it Glad you have it working spot on ellen hun. Hopefully quite soon I will be able to say the same. Let us know after you meet Blakey and have it running please Esme, we are all rooting for you

I will sandra hun............... my poor cat ripper looked at me so pensive this morning because I was so grumpy last night that this morning I gave him some of his wet cat food that he usually has of a weekend as a "I'm sorry offering". I think once I have her up and running the whole forum will hear me cheer wherever they are lol

I know this was for Esme, but I found it really helpful too and will be taking a close look at this when I rebuild with new wick and ceramic tomorrow, thanks Blakey

Nice walkthrough Blakey..Very well put together..
So if I understand it correctly, to adjust the draw you loosen the knurled ring around the ceramic holder a couple of turns and it will allow you to screw in (for looser draw) or screw out (for tighter draw) the ceramic holder into the base and then tighten the ring back down..

That's spot on macca, once you've done it a few times you know how far to allow the center pin to protrude for your own needs when you build.

Blakey - brilliant tutorial, kudos for the time and effort it has taken.
The Penelope is my first re-buildable and I have been very lucky I think; I followed Scott's video step by step with lots of pausing and got a working 1.5ohm coil straight off using the supplied wire.
This afternoon I have been really struggling trying to build my own coil from scratch. What I have found is that I wasn't leaving myself enough 'spare' to do the twisting. I'd worked out that I needed 37mm of 1.6 wire to make a 2.0 ohm coil, so I cut 47mm, leaving myself half a cm to twist with. Not enough! So now I've left plenty of spare and it twists easy and the excess can be trimmed off. Managed a 2.6 ohm that way.
Now I have to learn to get evenly spaced tidy coils lol.

Thanks so much blakey, you have explained it so simply and I think now I know where I definately went wrong with the ceramic and the screw, am I right in thinking that the screw inside the ceramic should not be protruding over the edges of the locking nut? I think I may have lost the spacer, I will check and see if it is lurking about and hopefully its just stuck in the package the first time I took everything apart after the first abortive attempt and put the bits back in the bag. If I cant find it, can I just get something from a DIY shop to use? I think with the negative wire, I was so intent in getting it to stay under the wick on the negative side that the wick as getting so damp from my hot hands. Now the positive wire, that is one wrap around the post between the spacer and the nut that you tighten up, then clip/break, making sure no wire protruding? The first wick I made, it wasnt as neat as yours blakey, but I was quite pleased and it did fire up. I wont try to coil another wick tonight as my poor fingers are very sore with twisting the wires And the base, you dont screw that too tight? This just needs to be lightly screwed down at first, then adjust so you get a good draw when you test before putting on the tank? The first time I tried the mouthpiece before putting the tank on, it was giving a good draw, it was just when the tank went on and I think I must have opened the mouthpiece way too much and thats why it flooded. I will have a go over the weekend with this and see how I get on Sorry I'm such a pain with this........... funny thing, with Scott's video, I could understand what to do, it was just putting it in practice and it wasnt working out as planned thanks again blakey I'm sure this will help

No problem esme That plastic spacer is important, without it the post will sit too high and cause all the grief you had. you can quite easily substitute it with an o-ring of the same size. And the tank makes no difference to the draw esme, the airflow comes from the bottom of the center post. If you have the mouthpiece screwed down when you test it without the tank fitted you will get an accurate reproduction of the final build. I really hope this time you can nail it, follow the walkthrough all the way and use it for reference and hopefully you'll be fine and it'll be worth the effort
