Hey guys my last mobile contract was with 3 mobile..But i couldnt get a signal in most of my house so decided to go elsewhere after my contract run out..3 mobile then offered me a deal that i couldnt turn down and also give me free of charge a home signal box..Since setting up the signal box its been brilliant..like a whole new network. 3 do have signal issues but my only gripe was i cant use my fone at home... until now...if any other members has the same problem id get on to 3 for a signal box. They work amazing

And if you're looking to move provider, check opensignalmaps.com/ (which is an independent site) for signal coverage. This showed me that I should move from O2 to Three, and I've not regretted it!

Be mindful that they use the 'box' as a customer retainer, so if you find the customer service rep is being negative about supplying you with one, then mumblings of moving provider might just help.

I am wondering if it provides a signal that is available to people on 3 who are close by, and you are using your internet connection to suplement them.

The units only work for registered phones - and it's you that controls which phones are registered. You won't get passing users accessing your 3 unit.
As for bandwidth, yes - it does use your internet connection to provide the service. A lot of these 'Pico/femto cells' require at least 1MB internet connections to work.
