How do you know when somethings had it?

Perhaps I need to clean then better than I am doing, I just emptied it and ran water through it but have never cleaned the things that screw together, I will in future though.....................Yes Senior, Im using the rebuildable one, so you think maybe its just the mouthpiece that needs replacing? rather than the whole thing
