Contents insurance - it is why we have it, quite possibly broken something and I don't think the hard drive would have appreciated it it happens, but think of the value of it, think of the replacement costs, and then think what your excess fee is - I mean you don't want more expense, you've got a shed load of building work to do in your garden Sorry to hear it has happened though, these things do happen - will assume you didn't have an accidental damage warranty on it? All the best - will be a hassle and cost of few extra pennies none of us seem to have these days, but you'll get it sorted - and maybe think of a tablet with shock proof case next time edit - my fourth ruddy post edited cos I can't spell nor have any use of grammar today [/i]

Missus just said when she ordered it she to out accidental damage, cost £4 amonth and thought it worth it as it was for the kids Gonna ring them tomorrow, we did have the same insurance on our tv a few years back and the same daughter chucked het toy horse through the screen which they couldnt fix so sent us the value of tv in vouchers Ended up with a bigger tv, micro wave,2 mp3 players and a ps3 game lol all for price of original tv

Count the number of beeps from a fresh ON button push and you can usually tell what has gone wrong..Do a search for BIOS beeps..
If the RAM has been knocked off due to the shock, it's usually easy to lock back in...
Obviously if you have decided on claiming insurance, then don't do anything..

If your phoning insurance, get your paper work ready, ignore the beeping for now, I doubt very much it will fix itself (offer it a vape, you never know?) - and concentrate on enjoying the rest of your evening, and getting your plans ready for your new pond and bar

I agree with Macca - it's possible that the RAM has dislodged. I know you said that the beep is continuous, but do you hear different lengths and pitches in the beep? Something like: Beeeeep - beep - beep . . . beeeeep - beep - beepfor one long beep with two short ones RAM tends to be fairly obvious (well, to the trained ear anyhow), but the hard drive might have been damaged if it was on while dropped too. Double check the battery is seated correctly. Of course, you could take the hit on the insurance too.

Oh - one more thing. I've been told by my insurance company that expensive items need to be listed - and they include computers and laptops in that. Hope that doesn't become an issue.

Its the same sound and same length The insurance is with the shop, so its only for this one item Just looked on there website and it says they will fix or replace it within 21 days

Most probably graphics chip or processor has been damaged or lost contact due to shock if it is not the RAM..Those are the only three issues which will cause a dead screen and beeping..If only the hard drive is damaged it will still post and display hard drive error...
Insurance claim is best..
