For those taking a sneaky peak,I am always working on a little project somewhere
below I am about to start a leaflet, its to be handed to all those interested parties that come over to me and others when we are on our LSE meet, indeed I am guilty of not being armed with some paperwork to hand out,as I find myself unwittingly in a position where people from the general public ask me questions such as "I have a son, father, relative, that smokes and can you advise me about using e cigs" ,now its time to address that and work on a flier for that purpose.
It is also part of a project I am working on called THE E CIG EXPERIENCE.
Before I get going,is there anyone with experience on building a web site, pleas PM me,I would be most grateful for any help, anyone looking in who would like to comment as I put my flier together feel free to comment and add your opinions.
I want to keep it short and sweet but be full of everything a starter needs too know.....
Welcome to the E CIG EXPERIENCE below are a few hints and tips to help you get started
E cigarettes just like their owners come in all shapes and sizes, there is a wealth of different flavors,as well as a varying amount of strengths of nicotine.
This can make it all a bit confusing for the beginner,so lets try an help you along
The main part of the e-cig is the battery, this can come in many sizes and variations, they also come with different power ratings (MAH) ,from the common cigarette look-a-like to cigar size ones (Ego's) and on to whats commonly know as Mods, tubes that you put a battery in,rather like a torch.
So whats the difference ? you ask, well a small cig-a-like will only usually have a battery around 200-300 mah capable of lasting 2-3 hours, depending on use, where as an Ego can again depending on its battery power, usually between 350-1100 mah, last longer and with the 900 mah plus versions last the day or more, for now I am going to stick with talking about the Ego as that is where most of us start, though there are some good cig-a-likes around
So we have covered the battery for now, lets look at the second part which sits on top and holds the e-juice,for now I will cover the two most popular, firstly the cartomiser, popular from day one as it was a round cylinder that matched a cig-a-like,making it seamless and giving it either that cigarette and filter look or a matching all in one e cig, inside they contain some wadding to saok up the e juice and under that a wire coil that is heated up by the battery, they can be bought pre filled or you can fill them yourselves,to do this I would advise a guide from the internet using either you tube, popular forums like the AAEC,or our own website.
Next up what's know a clearomizer, there are many types, but most starter kits come with what's known as a CE4 or CE5,these are specifically designed to fit on top of a Ego type battery,as a Ego battery comes with a 510 thread and a outer thread for these type of designs, they consist of a small tank that is filled with juice by unscrewing the top tip and hold around 2.5 ml of e juice, they use a wicking devise and usually a top coil, the e juice being fed up the wick to the coil, simple and neat these can be topped up whenever your 2/3 down the tank.
Both these devices will not last forever, cartomizers will either just fail or become extremely hard to suck through, then its a case of throwing away and replacing,CE4/5's can be taken apart and cleaned, new heads consisting of wick and wire can be purchased, rather than replace the whole thing, with both, some juices may taint them and its often better to have more than one to use for different flavors.
Next of course you will need some juice so lets start by explaining what's in them, they consist of four main ingredients 1) Propylene glycol (PG) found in dry ice machines at theatres and in inhalers for asthma sufferers. 2) Vegetable Glycerine (VG) a natural carbohydrate derived from certain types of plants. It is also used in every day products throughout the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics industries. 3) Flavourings, these should be food grade and can be anything from tobacco flavour too fruits and puddings. 4) Nicotine, this gives you that help you need giving up the cigs and most starters will need quite a high mg strength, when ordering juice you will notice strengths from 0-24 maybe even higher, you will be looking at 18 mg for an average smoker and 24 mg for a heavy smoker and over time you may want to lower your nicotine intake as part of a smoking cessation or you may chose to vape for as long as you feel you need too.
One last part, you'll need a charger, all starter kits and most e cigs will come with one suitable only for that kit or e cig, they often come with a plug that you screw the battery end of your e cig into and the other end usually has a USB attachment and supplied USB plug adapter, please note but dont be alarmed,I am going to cover safety below as all batteries need to be treated with some caution and common sense.
Safety, all battery powered goods such as laptops, phones and e cigs need charging and although its rare for these batteries to fail in any dramatic way,you should be advised that they can on rare occasions,so as already stated above, use the charger specifically designed for your e cig,do not take one from another and think well its the same shape so its OK "its not" a 300 mah battery shouldn't be charges on a 900 mah charger for instance.
Use some sense, should a battery fail "do you really want it plugged into your laptop" stick to the plug adapter, many don't,but its that once that matters, don't stick it on the wall socket, dangling on its lead over your carpet and go to bed, charge it when your around to turn it off once done,do it on a kitchen socket or such like with it sitting on a hard surface, don't go out and leave batteries unattended, again some common sense even though failures are rare.
staying on the safety theme, your e juice,it contains nicotine, most is harmless to us in ready mixed e juice bottles ,even when we get some on our skin,a quick wipe off or rinse under the tap and your fine, but be careful if you have pets, they will quite happily lick it of you and don't have the same tolerances, its the same with children,if you spill clean it up and wash it off yourself, bottles come equipped with child proof caps,so like medicine, keep the caps on and keep them out of reach.
