Oh dear - poor Jen Eye muscles are generally 'lazy' - they will only exercise if we make them. The best way is to continually change focus - looking down (looking for glass etc) looking up (to check i'm not going to bump into owt) constantly exercises the muscle. Generally i'm using me periphery vision - and keeping my head straight - and that was exactly the right exercise i needed to be doing at the time. Figured if it was a choice between me cutting me feet or them cutting into me good eye - it was a no brainer to at least give it a go

Ripped hell out of me extensor tendons on me right foot doing karate in me 20's - and meant Tendonitis to the point that if i kicked a ball back to kids i might not be able to walk without a limp for a week. When i moved up to Hull a locum Dr suggested trying going barefoot - as it would strengthen the muscles in me foot and thereby give added support to the tendons. It worked and can even climb trees again! Then following a RTA - the muscle in the lower part of me right eye had slackened - leaving me with effectively double vision for 18 months. The consultant stated that as they can't as yet tighten eye muscles, that they would operate om my good left eye to slacken the muscles and thereby achieve balance. To me this was like going into a garage with dodgy steering and the mechanic saying that it was due to a tight wheel and a loose wheel - and suggesting loosening the tight wheel. So - with nothing to lose so to speak - decided to try going barefoot - cut me feet a few times ('twice' as many feet and 'double' the apparent glass to avoid ) - and ended up not needing the op. The consultant was surprised but did end up admitting that it was possible the best course of action i could have taken - foolhardy maybe - but that he could never recommend it as he'd get sued the 1st time folk cut themselves LoL So, for me at least, going Barefoot IS sensible! NB It should be noted that i wouldn't have dreamed of going Barefoot post RTA if i hadn't already had experience - i just had to relearn how to do it within the limitations of the double vision This is a great 'How to' vid BTW

Being the Barefoot Boy with a quick tongue i used to be - i'd always have a ready retort for expected insults from folks i passed - and was annoyed by how often i used to need them. These days i walk with a smile on me face - and if someone in a group decides to say something tis usually, politely inquisitive - and should they make a disparaging remark it's usually one of their own group who will question their wisdom in doing so
