Yes Jeanie, the cartomisers on the Riva kit have a 510 thread the same as the SD Keyring, so they will fit on both batteries Karma, thanks for confirming. Now don't laugh cos I'm not sure whether I read this, or dreamt it, but can you get something that enables you to fit the clearomisers onto the Keyring?

Hello lorna and sysic Your grandad is right, the folk here are a great bunch and will help you all they can. I've only been a forum member and vaping for 12 days. I was a heavy smoker for a long time but without even trying, found I just cut down on the fags naturally, needing to smoke less each day, until by the end of the first week, I'd gone from 40+ per day to 0 and I haven't had one for five days now. Good luck to the both of you.

Oh, you're all very kind and I have found all your help and encouragement invaluable. I haven't had to ask many questions myself, cos I've usually found answers to them by searching the forum and reading other peoples' posts. The problem with that is, it takes me so long cos I end up clicking on links that take me to other threads and then I have to read those as well, so I don't always have the time to post much myself, or even keep up with the current threads. I'm sure that will change though as I get more confident with vaping. PS. I mentioned earlier that I was struggling a bit because I wanted a rollie. Well, I've been good and not given in so am feeling quite pleased with myself.

Thanks all, I'm finding your replies really helpful. oneday, I worry (just a figure of speech, I'm not really worried. lol) that my posts are too long and contain too much useless detail and everyone will just get bored and give up halfway through reading them. I tend to write like I speak though - get carried away and don't know when to stop.

I think I should take back my comments about the Grizwald's juices... I now think the cause was that I hadn't put enough juice in the cartomisers :-[ because when I looked in them again, the fillers still looked white so I added a few more drops, left them a while, and then after the flavours came through, they tasted much nicer. It was either that, or that I just hadn't let the flavours come through enough. I'm not sure whether the strange taste was a dry, or a burnt taste - the nearest I can describe it is as a sickly, sweet, caramelised taste, if you know what I mean? I have decided that I really like Black Cat, Mintoff is nice although not very minty, Caramel Cappuccino is ok but not really my thing. I can't comment on the Obalicious cos I accidentally topped it up with Mintoff and haven't had the nerve to try it yet. Haven't tried Golden Burginia yet but that will be next. Today is my 11th day of vaping and my 5th without smoking, although last night and this morning, I've felt I could murder for a roll up. I'm determined not to give in though and am hoping the Golden Burginia, being more of a tobacco flavour, will help to satisfy my cravings. Wish me luck!!!

Thanks for the above. I have diabetes (type 2) and I must admit that I had not even considered whether vaping might affect sugar levels.

Here's another update to let those who are interested, know how I'm getting along with my vaping so far. I carried on over the weekend, just having the odd roll up when I fancied one, which was usually when the battery was charging, and as I felt I 'needed' a real smoke first thing in the morning, after meals and just before going to bed. I couldn't wait for my new kit and juices to arrive, which they did, along with my son's, early on Monday afternoon. I kept picking the kit up and inspecting it but was too nervous to fill anything, especially the cartomisers, in case I messed up. My son, who had done no research whatsoever, came home from work and not listening to a word I was saying (as per usual ) just attached the clearomiser to the battery, then squirted liquid in and bunged the mouth piece in. Of course you can all guess what happened next. He then did more or less the same thing with a cartomiser. All this made me even more paranoid about filling mine and I spent the rest of the day researching and watching videos on how to fill them. Finally, I plucked up the courage to have a go at filling the clearomiser. That went well, so I had a go at a doing a cartomiser next and that went ok too. The first of the pick n mix juices I tried was Black Cat, which I found disappointing as all I got was a strange taste with just the tiniest hint of liquorice. The next was Mintoff, which was even more disappointing, just the same strange taste, without any mint flavour that I could detect. The next was Obalicious but again, that same strange taste and nothing else. I've also tried my son's Cocomel, Choco Haze and Banoffee but found only a slight flavour, overpowered by the strange taste. I don't know what the strange taste is but know I find it sickly and don't like it and my son isn't very keen either. I wondered if maybe it's just something that Grizwald's use in their liquids, or whether it's my taste buds not working properly but the Hangsen menthol that I've been using, I find very tasty. On Tuesday, I went to the e-cig stall on the market and Andrew, the vendor, kindly let me try some Hangsen fruity flavours, which I found were much more agreeable to me. I didn't take any cash with me, so couldn't buy any then but I'll get some next week. Anyway, even though I'm struggling with the juices I have, I'm keeping at it and the good news is, that since I started using my new kit, I only smoked three roll ups on the first day and have had NONE since.

No worries Ant, one day I might even understand what it all means - it's all a bit too technical for me at the moment though. lol

Thanks for coming along and updating us Jeanie, and yes it's the roll ups you don't smoke that are the ones to count you will love the Riva kit. Like you I didn't intend to quit right away, it just sort of happened naturally, I think you will find when you have the Riva and always have access to a battery those roll ups will be even less, congrats on converting your Son too. Which juices did you choose in the pic & mix? ellen81, I've ordered: Black Cat, Caramel Cappuccino, Mintoff and Cocomel. My son has sent for different ones so we can try each others. Keep looking for my e cig in the ashtray :-S alanfinal, re your sig - I've picked mine up twice today to write with.

Thought I'd give an update on how I'm getting along with my vaping... So far, I'm absolutely loving it! I'd no intention of trying to quit or cut down on my roll ups until I'd got myself sorted with kit, tastes, nicotine levels etc, and knew what I was doing but since I had my first vape on Thursday evening, I've smoked the grand total of 23 rollies, which for me, is pretty amazing considering how many I would normally have had by now. Most of those have been smoked whilst waiting for the battery to charge - I so wish I had a spare battery! I've ordered the Riva 1100 kit and some pick n mix juices, plus the key ring, just in case I want something a little more discreet for when I'm out. Hopefully, they will be here on Monday so I'll be a really happy bunny then. Another thing I'm pleased about is that my 23 year old son, who I'd discovered had started smoking around 3 years ago, showed interest in my e-cig and was so impressed, has ordered the Riva kit and some juices for himself. Only need to get the hubby converted now, which might prove more difficult...

Wow! Thanks everybody for a fantastic welcome. Guess what? I am now a vaper, or should that be a vaperer? I'm sure I'll learn the correct lingo sooner or later. Anyway, I've tried it and think I'm going to like it even though I'm not sure yet whether I'm doing it properly but as they say, practice makes perfect. Obviously, I'm keeping the one hubby got - happy to know it wasn't a rip off, especially as Malibu was right and it was from a vendor on this forum, which will be handy being so near. It will be great as a spare but it's already on charge again, so I will need one with a longer battery life for normal, every day use. I'm definitely sending for the Riva and a selection of juices, so thanks for the code, onedayillquit. Is there anything else I will need and should be ordering at the same time?
