Hello. I'm Jeanie, I've recently joined the forum and seeing as you all seem so friendly and helpful, I thought I'd introduce myself. I've been a smoker for 40+ years and can easily get through 40-50 cigarettes per day. A few months ago, I changed to roll ups, using menthol tips, hoping to cut down both on consumption and cost but although I'm spending less than I was, I'm getting through two 50g packs of tobacco every week. Over the years, I've had many unsuccessful attempts at giving up, trying just about everything from willpower, hypnosis, gum, patches, Zyban, Allan Carr and so on. The only thing I hadn't considered using was an e-cig (no idea why not), that is, until last week when a friend told me that her husband had switched to them and hadn't touched a real cigarette for over three months. I've now spent hours on the internet, researching and trying to find out as much information as I can, (hence arriving at this excellent site) but I'm so confused and overwhelmed as there's just so much to take in. However, even though I haven't even tried it yet, I'm convinced that vaping is going to be the way forward tor me. Anyway, from what I understand, I don't think a cigarette look alike would really be suitable for me, so after seeing many recommendations on here, I was just about to send for the VE Riva 1100 Deluxe Kit when my hubby came home from having a look around our local market. A new stall was there, selling e-cigs and accessories and knowing I was looking into getting one, he decided to buy one for me. I've spent all afternoon searching online for the same model but the only place I've found it is here (if you scroll right down the page there's information and better pictures). www.alibaba.com/product-gs/580564643/ce4_ego_to_hottest_ego_u.html?s=p Hubby paid £15 for it + £10 for 30ml liquid and I'd really appreciate your comments/opinions as to whether it's a load of cheap tat that he'd be best returning and getting a refund on, or whether it's worth keeping and getting accessories to go with it? Whether I keep it or not, do you think I should still order the above Riva kit anyway? Thanks for any advice.

Hi and welcome Jeanie. Looking at the link, it's not a piece of tat. It will make a good introduction to vaping and seems reasonably priced. It has a 510 screw thread which means you can use other accessories with it. However - a 650mah battery will give you maybe half a day before needing a re-charge and you'll need to wait without your e-cig while that happens. as a 50 a day smoker you need something longer lasting. So, not a bad kit, but not as good a your original choice. Well done to hubby for trying to help you though

Hi Jeanie #welcome2# to the forum, glad you found us. Even though you have kit from hubby, I would recommend the Riva too, it's what I started with and it's a great kit

Welcome to the forum Jeanie. It sounds like you husband got a deal. Try it out and then consider if thats the kind of thing you want to go for. The riva kit you linked is as good a starting place as any.
As long as it keeps you off real fags it doesnt really matter what ecig you use.

Hello & welcome to the forum Jeanie. I'd echo the advice on the Riva kit, but it's worth hanging on to the kit your hubby has got you, as back ups are good for our vaping gear . . . the items are by and large considered to be disposable after a certain amount of usage, so it's always worth having spares.

Hello & welcome Jeanie From looking at that link, it does look like you will only get one battery with the kit, so, as OneDay says you are going to struggle when you are charging it. Plus as it's coming from China & many vendors on Alibaba are renowned for slow shipping, you may have to wait quite some time before you receive it.

Hello from me too jeanie That looks like a fair enough starter but you do need one more battery to use while the other one charges

Jeanie, just another couple of thoughts. If you do go for the Riva kit, take a look at the pik'n'mix juices at the same time. And use discount code allabout to get 10% off your order

Hi Jeanie and You'll need a minimum of 2 batteries, one on charge whilst you use another, even better to have 3 or 4 (just buy one very few weeks) so you have a back-up always). The other thing to consider is the top part that holds the liquid which from the picture looks like what we call a Vision Ego, these are disposable and at first figure on one lasting 2 - 3 weks before it meeds maintenance or replacing once again you need to have 2 or 3 spares. That way you will not be "caught short" as you can't so easily pop to the corner shop for spares (unless you got a 24 hour Tesco's that sells E-lites etc. Welcome to a whole new world of taste possibilities and the ability to control your nicotine intake to a level that you're comfortable with. As a fairly heavy smoker I'd recommend around 24mg nicotine strength. Please just ask any questions you may have, no matter how trivial it may seem.
