Hi chykensa, I doubt if I will be ready for any soil delivery until October or even November. Although 3 of the 4 raised beds are built, I still have to rout and smooth down the tops so that I don't get skelves in me botty. I then have to line the insides of the beds up to soil depth. The rest of the winter will be taken over laying paths, preparing the soil and running in armoured cable to the greenhouse. Oh, and I need to rig up 4 electric fences and hoop frames to control garden pests. Whatever happened to the days when gardening meant a spade and a fork?

Like chykensa, it is the idea of freshness that is enticing me towards growing my own. I have grown veggies and fruit before, but that was from a saving money point of view and really, with frozen stuff and little wastage, it is cheaper to buy from the shops than to grow it yourself. 200 square feet of raised beds will not produce all our veggie needs for the year, but it should give me some satisfaction of producing something worthwhile and give us a reasonable amount of fresh produce. Once the greenhouse has heating and lighting, growing plants from seeds will also reduce wastage as well as extending our planting times. But all this will take time and I honestly do not see us getting anything into the ground before next Spring. To gill2009 and Chrissie, well it may be beginning to look fabulous, but lets face it, it could hardly have looked any worse in the beginning!!!

I finally finished my Compost Bins today. So now I am stalking Mrs Lobey when she is preparing the dinner, so that I can grab the peelings to fill me bins. Just got the raised beds to finish and then I start on running electricity into the greenhouse.

....but value for money, it matters! I like to get my full worth out of an item and I'm English (but a bit tight - granted) You'll not get any tighter than DiscoDes. From another topic he tells us he's a Virgin!!!!!

At the beginning of this year I changed over my basic attys to Nautilus Aspires because I liked the draws I got and the fact that they didn’t leak down any central hole. At first, I started them on a low wattage until I found my “sweet spot” of around 7.5W. Now although I now have 4 of these Aspires on the go, only one is used all day every day and the first of these lasted about 2 weeks. That suited me just fine and I didn’t mind replacing the coils every couple of weeks.
However, subsequent coils were then only lasting a week or so and eventually, after several months, I was so disappointed that I started keeping a record of just how long they were actually lasting . Some were lasting just 7 days, others 10. Not very satisfactory in my opinion.
On the 10th of last month with a gurgling coil, I went on U-tube to look for information on Nautilus Aspire Coils and came across one which recommended that I start a new coil on the lowest setting possible for a wee while and only then increase the wattage by 0.5 again for a wee while and continue to raise it by 0.5w until I reached my sweet point, to slowly “break in” the coil. By doing so this it would considerably lengthen the coil’s life. Aspire Nautilus longer life Well it is true!!!! I am changing this coil 28 days after starting with this new regime. 28 days!!!! Fantastic!!!!
On the nitty gritty side, I am vaping FlavourArt Royal Tobacco mix at 10% flavouring in a 50/50 mix.
The Coil that has just given me 28 days was the fourth of a packet of 5 X 1.8 ohm coils and of the previous 3 coils, the longest I had out of any of them was 10 days.
So from now on all my Aspire Coils will be “broken in”.

Most doctors/consultants/etc that put us onto drugs that have varying side effects, appear to be under the impression that whatever the side effects of these drugs are, they can be no worse than the side effects of the substance that these drugs are trying to get you off.
Personally I have issues with this sort of thinking
Doctors are too gullible and too inclined to take drug advertising bumf to heart, without properly investigating the actual success rate of these products.
IE. Anti-smoking drug:- Good. Electronic Cigarette:- Bad. Who says?
For me, all anti-smoking drugs:- A waste of space. E-cigs:- The best thing to hit the market in the last 100 years!

We are all different and what is a "marvellous drug" for some, will be a nightmare for others.
I have had Champix, Zyban and everything in between and ALL of them WORKED!
All of them stopped me smoking for varying degrees of weeks, months, etc. The trouble was that all of them would not keep me stopped. Even the Gum that kept me away from ciggies for 18 months, eventually failed and I was back on the merry-go-round.
Only Vaping has been a success. Over 3 years now and still enjoying it.
As for Medicines that "make you better". Well the chemists are hardy going to promote that, are they???? It is their job to sell you medicines, not cut their own throats by making you better!

Och aye. I have a couple of "Rubbish" bottles, mixes of many, never to be repeated and some delicious.
You've heard of Eaton Mess?
Well these mixes should be called, "Lobey's Lav".

Hi @chris2005. A number of my friends have asked me to make juice for them, but having made a number of mistakes making up juice for myself, I refuse point blank to make any on their behalf. I will stand over them while they make their own using mine or their own supplies and I will help them any way I can, but they MUST make their own. That the rule. That way if it doesn't work out, then I am not to blame for their actions. Personally I get through about 3.5ml a day. Then again, I am retired, a lazy sod and any more laid back and I'd be permanently horizontal.

1 litre!!!!! , That is what I thought too @yinyang The most I have ever made up was 200ml and from then on only (only????) 100ml. 100ml would do me for a month, vaping that solid, which I wouldn't do. So more like 6 weeks or so.
