My Mum, bless her, is just glad I've given up smoking. I've explained to her that vaping is just another way of getting nicotine but without all the nasty chemicals that are in smoke, and that nicotine in these doses is no worse than caffeine (and is not carcinogenic). She's quite happy for us to vape around her and even in her house. Dad wants me to vape licorice cos that's his favourite smell. Neither of them have ever smoked, they didn't approve of me smoking but never brow-beat me about it. I'm lucky to have such brilliant parents.

It varies gordy, you can buy them at different ohm ratings. Usually 1.8-ish and 2.4-ish. I agree with moonraker, use the 2.4 to start with - the 1.8 will drain your battery faster and may give you a burnt taste depending on the flavour of juice you're using. Fruit flavours in particular seem to prefer higher ohms (higher ohms = lower wattage = less heat). You may also find that the 2.8 ohm head doesn't produce enough flavour or vapour. Keep all the heads though, cos you can always recoil them at some point in the future and have them at whatever ohms you want.

Decided to have a bash at Frogsters Bananas and Cream ,just cause it looks delicious. It IS delicious talisman, absolutely gorgeous. It doesn't even seem to need steeping longer than a day or two. I have a mini Vivi full right here, had to mix it at 8mg/ml cos it's so moreish I was making myself dizzy at a higher level. Can't have a dizzy dizzi now can we? Enjoy, and let us know how you get on!

I think there is some confusion on this thread as to the difference between vapour and smoke. Vapour contains miniscule droplets of liquid (eg water droplets in steam from a kettle) whereas smoke contains minute particles of various solids as well as liquids. It is the solids that do the damage. If inhaling steam/water droplets was unhealthy the human race wouldn't exist as there is nearly always some liquid (humidity) in the air we breathe in, even in the cleanest air. And nobody would ever have invented the sauna/steam room.
In answer to the question: no, I don't consider myself a smoker. A nicotine addict yes, but as I am no longer inhaling smoke I am no longer a smoker. I don't believe that 'smoker' as a word, equates to a similar meaning as 'alcoholic', whereby an alcoholic is always an alcoholic even if they are no longer drinking alcohol. I am still a nicotine addict (nicoholic?), but not a smoker anymore. I will probably always be a nicotine addict, but as long as vaping supplies are available either to buy or to make myself, I will never again be a smoker. I hope (though obviously can't guarantee) that even if they were to become impossible to acquire or make at some point in the future I would still not be a smoker again. I'm not even entirely sure it is the nicotine alone that I am addicted to, otherwise NRT would work. And it doesn't, at least not for me.

Gordy it may well be that I was unlucky with the red one and got an undersized one, perhaps a different one from the same range would have fit. For drip tips that are a little loose, you can try wrapping some plumber's PTFE tape around it. I haven't tried this myself yet as I'm still looking for our tape, goodness only knows where it's gone...

Same problem? Licorice is one of the juices known to cause problems with some plastics. Get thee a Vivi Nova with a metal tube (I'd put an aluminium or steel drip tip on it as well, to be safe) and you won't have anymore problems like this.

Hi Gordy, I use mini Vivi Novas (2ml) with metal tubes for juices that might not work with plastic tanks. You can also get the full size Vivi Nova which takes 3.5ml. You need to buy the metal tank separately, cost around £3 - make sure you get the right tank for the Vivi you choose though! Vape Escape sells both the Vivi Nova (both sizes) and the metal tubes. Contact Jason through the site (or PM him here) and he'll fix you up with what you need.

Following on from the Darth Vaper tin mod, here's my first e-pipe mod. Most of the DIY pipe mods I've seen use a cheap plastic(?) Chinese pipe, this one is a nice hand-carved pear wood pipe from Ukraine. I figured that if I was going to spend time and money on this I'd rather start with a nice pipe, plus wood is easier to work with. The pipe was about £15 delivered, took a week to get here. Cheaper wood pipes are available, but I rather fell in love with this one. It uses ego electronics (available from Liberty Flights or a dead ego battery) and a protected 16340 battery. The battery's only 880mAh so won't last all day, but battery size is limited by the bowl of the pipe. The ego electronics mean I can charge the battery without removing it - just use an ordinary ego charger. The biggest problems I had with this were a) making the bowl of the pipe (battery holder) a bit deeper to fit, and b) it proved extremely difficult to get the ground/negative wire to "stick" to the inside of the bit of 14mm brass tube I used between the ego fitting and the pipe itself. Think I need to get me some flux. I used a domed pewter button from my extensive collection for the cap over the bowl, lined with a couple of layers of electrical tape "just in case". I epoxied this on just at the edges, it's on pretty firmly but I'm hoping I'll be able to remove it with minimal damage when the battery needs replacing. I didn't solder the wires to the battery - I don't like doing this as the heat can cause the battery to go bang. This is such a tight fit that it wasn't necessary, just a cut-down negative sping connector at the bottom and a little metal button for the positive at the top. Both connectors were taken from a battery box, with wires already attached. This one's mine, but I'll be making another for hubby as soon as he's chosen the pipe he wants. Attachments:

OK then, in that case I'll add a bit of stevia (sweetener), if that would be of use to you? It's not arrived yet but should be here soon, bung me your address in PM and I'll send it and the Bright Tobacco as soon as postie turns up with it.
ETA - I'm quite happy to wait til the Capella order arrives - save yourself the postage!

I'll send you the D de L along with the Vanilla Custard. Swapping them for the Liqua Tobacco is a good idea. I'll let you know when my supplies arrive......hopefully it won't take too long. Thanks Addict, let me know what I owe you and how to pay. The Liqua is ready made juice and only costs about the same as one of the bottles of flavouring so I wouldn't expect a straight swap. Mmmm, getting excited about trying this VC now, hope it doesn't get too held up with Christmas. Thanks Addict for doing this, it's very kind of you.

I've also noticed in the last day that my clearo is kinda squint, and moves ever so slightly when attached to the battery. I've got one that does that Cammy, if you run your fingernail round the bottom of the tank where the plastic meets the metal, is there a gap on one side? I just push mine back together, making sure to push it in straight so as not to force the whole tank off the base!
