As you get past a certain age your eyesight starts to go weird. So when you still can't read something the full length of your arm away, you either get bigger phones or reading glasses. I have both.

I actually have those magnetic glasses that hang around my neck just to ensure I look very old.

It's nice to get freebies and some people kindly do so. I was just commenting on the expectation or doing things specifically for a hand out.
