I've had both those things happen to ego type batteries (not from FT), the hot one was due to the negative connection not being soldered to the case properly and the smoking and sparking was a short on the pcb.

I managed to repair both but it made me a bit wary of cheap batteries.

Now that's the question, I think they're supposed to be but being Chinese who knows.
I've had 3 different ce type clearos and they had swappable parts, found out after cleaning them and didn't know which bit went where.

My first FT order arrived yesterday, 12 days from order.

According to tracking it spent the last 5 days in the UK so by the mile slow boat is quicker than Royal Mail.
