I've been vaping for 6 months, & using ss mesh wicks (in an AgaT) for about 4 months. Like others have said you are probably getting a short somewhere. I find the real trick is to oxidise the wick properly to stop it from conducting electricity. It's not carbon you are trying to get on it. You need to get your wick glowing cherry red with a blow torch. I found a lighter simply isnt hot enough & just covers it in soot, which while this may have a similar effect its just not as good. I dont quench it in water, I dont burn juice on it. Roll your wick as in that 1st video, until you have it the right size for the hole You dont want it rolled to tightly or too loosely, I do it around a pin. I make mine to be able to only just go in the hole, not loose in the hole. Once you've made your wick give it a good blowtorching, get it glowing cherry red all over. You cant 'over oxidise' it. Remove the wick, & place a drill bit or some other round rod into the hole that only just fits it (not loose). Wrap your coil around this. Space the coils out evenly. The most likely place to get a hotspot is the top & then the bottom. I make sure the bottom of the coil where it comes from the negative screw is touching the metal of the tank, & I even try & push it into the hole everso slightly. To get rid of the top hotspot I use a small washer. Edit (for clarity) now remove the drill bit when you've wrapped your coil & done up the nuts screws etc. Once you're done fire it a few times it should be glowing nice & evenly. Then just put your wick carefully into the hole. Pic showing washer to get rid of top hotspot Drill bit method.

I was shocked the other day to meet a vaper at a meet and I think he had 2 mods, one was a Vamo and I forget the other, but both got really warm/hot and he thought it was normal! I explained it wasn't, but didn't understand at the time, it was probably the glue fixing the bits together that was the problem. Next time I know, so thanks Robby. Hi, I reckon that was me. I'm a bit deaf, too many loud gigs & too many fast motorbikes without wearing earplugs. I did get the bit about they shouldnt be getting warm, I just didnt hear the explanation as to why. Yes I thought it was normal because I had nothing else to go on, & bike lights that I've had using these batteries (LIion) tend to have heatsinks & cooling fins on them cuz they get warm. The other mod was an Innokin SVD, that gets decidedly too hot to hold & is being sent back to the vendor, as it has other issues too. Regards the Vamo (I have 2), how much of a problem is it? I get the explanation. There is no way I have the skills or the tools to fix it myself. They both get warm, but not too warm to use, & that is with heavy chain vaping, other than that I havent had a problem. The thing is 1 of them came direct from China so basically it isnt worth the hassle to send it back, better to find someone to fix it for me... but if it aint broke why bother fixing it. I dont seem to suffer from too much battery usage, yes it's noticably less than what I would expect given the mAh (when compared to an Ego of half the mAh) but it's not a problem either. If it means it is going to get worse over time & stop working then yes it needs to be fixed. But I havent noticed any change in behaviour, as in it is at this level & has stayed there. I dont want to be without my mod If I get someone to fix the China 1 they might break it, then I dont have 1. The second 1 I can send back to the vendor probably, I'm sure he'll recognise me on here as soon as he reads this, & I'm perfectly happy with the vendor, maybe he can fix it himself. I havent asked. The point is I can live with it as it is assuming it wont get worse.

How about Mad Murdochs Radiator Pluid. Good luck finding some tho. Liberty Flights sometimes have it. Not to be used in a pc tank.

Koolada came up for discussion on another forum. Well I had some but I hadnt tried it. I had been dripping some juices, so I figured just 1 drop should be ok... big mistake. Yes it was very cooling, but I was coughing my guts up for ages. Dont vape concentrated koolada, not even 1 drop! Also unscrewed a Vivi nova leaving the base in place dumping a tankful of juice all over me.
