I'm curious, what would happen if you used protected, would it not fire?

Now waiting for my fogger v3 clone and steam turbine genesis clone to arrive, then I can panic again over failures!

I was worried wouldn't get the tweezers in place before it cooled too much Mod in left hand, tweezers at the ready and in close proximity in right hand and there will be sufficient heat in the coil to position the tweezers and squeeze ... just remember to release the power switch before you position the tweezers I ripped it out, redid, had similar problem. It looks like a fraction of wire still sticking from the base, despite the wriggling method, so used the clippers and got it neat ( I think) ohms higher than I wanted, but at least it is working. Leaving to soak a little before I try vaping from it. I expect it will now leak

I have managed a couple of normal coils in the past, which seemed ok, although went to larger sizes as it was easier to work, and didn't have leak problems which i had with smaller wicks-wires (.4mm kanthal wire, and .3 silicon and also .3 ecowool) A little airy on the draw though

Just another thought, as I had very similar problems when starting out: What are you using to seat the coil in the base? In Super-Shiny's guide he recommends a blunt needle, but when I started out I didn't have one and I used the 2mm drill bit that I made the coil on. What I didn't realise at first is this doesn't fit all the way into the wick grooves, and so the coil was sat too high and shorted on the top post when I put it on. It would be fine when testing before fully assembled! If this is the case, use something thinner to seat the coil in the base - I used a 1.5mm drill bit, but a needle would also work. The coil should sit at the bottom of the wick grooves, not the top. I used a 1.6mm screwdriver, but I am shorting out before I have even tried the top post., I may be trying a little higher than ideal in order to get the cotton in ok

Just as an aside fisher you don't need to use your camping stove or indeed any sort of torch .... once you have wrapped your coil tightly around a drill bit, mount it in your base and check that all is well resistance-wise ... Then pulse the coil until it is red hot, release the power switch and squeeze the coil with tweezers while it is still hot ... repeat the pulse and squeeze operation a few times and Bob's your mum's brother. I was worried wouldn't get the tweezers in place before it cooled too much

looks about 9, 2.5 kanthal. i used a small screwdriver to support it from the base, and even lifted it a little to play safe

Looks like a restart at some point later today. Trying to get some practice in before a couple of rba's turn up from the slowboat. May be some bargains up here at sometime, unused atomizers lol.
One advantage of this problem is I now \a full member and not junior lol

i wondered but the coil isn't touching anything that i can see , and i haven't put the chimney on yet. I think there must be a short somewhere though. Just tried tweeking it and back to 0.0. If it was a short wouldn't it come up as non? What are you coiling? Protank 2. I think I will leave it a while then rip it out and restart. Shame, it looked nice lol

Am having major trouble getting a coil to keep a steady ohm reading on my mvp2. I have tried a few lousy looking attempts but finally( with the help of my camping stove) got one that looks passable. I haven't successfully fired it yet so haven't even got to the pleasure (nightmare) of trying to put the cotton in.
What am I likely to have done wrong as the ohms are jumping from 0 to 0.6 up to 2.0.

Well done crazyquilter I think the most useful thing you did was find this site and then have the sense to ask questions, everyone here is wonderful and helpful and Helped me along the way, now gone about 14 weeks without a ciggy(well, just 1 and it was horrendous).
My view is if you have got this far , with the help you will get here you will be a non smoker in no time!
