I read a story once about a tv exploding, I still own a tv, and a toaster, and a fridge, and a kettle.... I think you get the point lol

If this was used in a perfectly, acceptable, ordinary, no added extensions way then it sounds like he was just unlucky. There are millions of batterys and battery powered devices out there and rarely do we hear of any incidents with them.

It made the news because it's a rare case, if it was a common occurence it wouldn't even of been mentioned, just written off as another person who's battery blew up. It made international news because its even rarer than rare. Other wise they could of focused on the people it had happened to in their own country.

I'm not saying to be reckless with your batterys and equipment by any means, treat them as carefully and cautiously as you can. Just remeber how many you come into contact with on a daily basis and how few of them go pop.

I think I'll take the risk of a e-cig going pop than the risks of the "real" ciggys.
