Just to say I've sorted out the problem. I cleaned it again using warm water and a syringe, I injected water through every hole and orifice on the base and then dried it all out. Then I cleaned it all again in fresh warm water and dried it all out. Put it back together with a fresh coil and wick and just to make sure I killed off any remaining bad taste that may have still been in there I filled it with a VERY strong custard mix I had in the cupboard and just left it standing overnight. Yesterday morning I took a vape from it and just got a nice strong custard without the bad taste I was getting before. So this morning I cleaned it all out again, dried it and filled with Red Astaire and a fresh coil and wick.. ...been using it for the last few hours and tastes amazing now

In my experience you need a bigger cord if you're going to use it for perving, it's too short they'll spot it lol.

I'm sure the wife has her own "Mod" to meet her needs, with variable speed instead of variable wattage lol

I have this problem with my protanks but what I figured out was if you fill it until it looks full, then slowly continue adding juice while looking in to the tank and just keep going until the juice level reaches the edge of the chimney/central tube, then screw bottom back on and it should be full.

Someone needs to experiment and come up with the future of vaping tech, if you get a good idea and prototype off the ground I'll be happy to invest Just look at the coiling tools, people started wrapping wires around drill bits, then someone took it further by creating the coil jig, then someone took it another step further and created the BoomBoom coil winder, simple designs but innovative just the same...just goes to show that it can be done if you have the right idea.

I suppose if you made the ceramic small enough and thin enough it would heat up quick enough using the battery to produce the vapour we need, the bigger it is the longer it would take right. That's what I was thinking. The traditional ceramic heaters have an ultrathin aluminium element buried in the ceramic. We've already seen some of these in use as a form of disc, can't remeber the atty, may have been for stoners. But there's been a lot of advancement in the last couple of years, where the ceramic itself is a semiconductor, so it makes the heat directly. Supposed to be pretty tough too. I'll be at the uni in the morning dropping a couple of guys off, good change to use the reference library. First time I vaporises something for inhalation the device had no wick, no coil and had temp control....! And that was quite a few years ago. That's what I'm talking, just done as a semiconductor I just found these vaping donuts, are these what you were on about? www.fatdaddyvapes.com/shop.htmlHere's a guy reviewing them: Seems to be on the right track with the ceramic but I'm sure even something like that could be innovated further. Get rid of the legs/wires, create a base with the "coil" already built in and just have the solder/connector points on the base of the donut and have a click and load system for easy installation and changing of just the donut:

Ceramic based semiconductors, no wires other than the connections. So nice even heat, no hot-spots, VERY efficient, and from what I can see good heat density. Something like this wrapped with a nickel wire for temperature measurement. A slot along the top for the vapour to escape, wick through the centre, either silica, cotton or rayon. Are we getting too complex here? I don't know about complexity lol. I'm not even mechanically minded I'm just throwing ideas around my head like you say When you turn off the power doesn't ceramic stay heated for a length of time afterwards though?, like a ceramic room heater does, ceramic stores the heat which could cause problems. OR possibly because you're not throwing a lot of power in to it and only for a few seconds it wouldn't stay heated. I suppose if you made the ceramic small enough and thin enough it would heat up quick enough using the battery to produce the vapour we need, the bigger it is the longer it would take right.

So how does heating ceramic work, is it wire encased in ceramic?. What if you hide the coil away in a sealed chamber (obviously with some ventilation) but use the coil to heat a small rod the wick is placed through, much easier to clean, maintain and change the wick. Shoud we be filing patents

Would I be correct in saying that the main reason for replacing coils is because they get gunked up with juice residue? So it would be better to come up with to vaporising the juice without it coming in to contact with the coil. LOL I was about to say can't we coat them in non-stick paint type stuff but it would probably just burn off. What about wrapping the coil around a tube containing the wick so the juice can't gunk it up ??? Not innovative or different from using coils but possibly more efficient I don't know, possibly interfere with the resistance levels.

There's been loads of battery mods becoming available over the last year or so with what seems to be a lot of money and development put behind them.. Lots of innovation for the batteries but what about the tanks, from what I can gather everything has always used two things - a coil and a wick. Is there not such a thing as a coil-less tank? I was just thinking would they be able to innovate on this standard, how could they do it, another way of vaporising juice that doesn't use coils (or maybe not even use wicks) must be out there somewhere. Would Nebulizer technology be a viable idea? - not sure if it uses a heating coil though. I wonder has anyone ever tries using something like that just to be adventurous lol Just a general brain storm thread really, does anyone know if it would be possible without a wick and coil?
