If you think of resistance like water flowing through a pipe, The bigger the pipe (or number of pipes) then the lower the Resistance to the flow, ie more water gets through. That also Helps you understand what you get with lower resistance, change The word water for heat. The lower the resistance the hotter it gets. nice metaphor....thanks

hi all,
built my first jenny and pleased with results, im running an ikarus hybrid which can have dual coils. My question is: why do dual coils half the ohms/resistance of a single?
so if i run two coils at 2.1 ohms each, total would be roughly 1ohm...right? is it because the same amount of power is being diverted into 2 therefore halfing it??....no that sounds stupid!
TIA

First things first; please DO NOT SHOOT ME DOWN, I am asking a question not posing a judgement/criticism! It seems to me, as it probably does to most of you that Vaping can save lives, but to a complete novice who would is thinking of 'converting' from analog it can seem like a minefield and will no doubt puts lots of potential vapers off. Consider the buying scenarios and choices: ANALOG: walk into any newsagent/supermarket... CHOICES: choose a brand, choose a strength or menthal, 10 or 20.....unwrap and enjoy DONE! VAPING: buy 'consumable' mass produced ecigs from a supermarket or newsagent at inflated prices, and not really enjoy the experience. Look for better products, find no local retailers, look at the myriad of online suppliers (some not reputable) and wait for possible delivery. CHOICES: hybrid or separates MPV or APV. battery capacity not forgetting spares and charging regularly. Cartridges, Clearomizers, atomisers. ego's, 510 and various threads. Variable voltage and/or wattage. resistance/ohms. Kicks. Vapesafe. Batteries 18xxx. rebuildables. ss mesh or silica. dripping. PG VG what mix?. what mg?...etc...etc .....SOD IT give me 20 b&h So as asked, do you think it is all too complicated? if so would some kind of industry standardisation solve it?

I dont vape inside public places either, It's just that I dont want some heavy handed barman or someone coming over and telling me smoking is illegal etc...and then I have to explain im vaping not smoking and the difference , whilst everyone next to you is gawping at you... so just join the condemned outside seems easier

The only thing I would really recommend is checking the resistance to make sure your batteries are up to the job. I have no idea what a 4 wrap of 0.32 comes out at:D So I borrowed a multimeter and tested ohms. Meters own value= .6 Atomiser = 2.7 Equals. 2.1 ohms Does that sound about right?

When I wrap my Silver dog with a 2mm straw wick I use 5 wraps of 0.2 Kanthal and that comes in at around 1.5 ohms. It is fairly common to get the top and bottom legs burning bright at the beginning, you have to play about with the coils till they all begin to glow and then make sure you don't have hotspots. Do you have a picture of your coil bunglebear? Pic of wick n wrap:

got it working...... How? For when someone else has the same problem. Followed what VAPING BAD mentioned , I just left less of a gap between top of wick and centre post (so they almost touch) so seems it was a 'hot leg' as mentioned.
ginge7289 ....sorry I have no idea of ohms, no device to measure, and as mentioned also very new to wicking. Although I will say the coil does not light as quick as I thought and the middle two seem stronger than the top and bottom. Also in case i messed up my terminology when i refer to 4 wraps I mean i wrapped the wire around the wick 4 times....
apologies if i seem like an idiot!!!!......DOH!

so new to wicking but have been watching loads vids etc... now, ikarus hybrid mod...using single wick (500 mesh oxidized) and wrap 4 coils of .32 evenly, but on every single time, when I test burn, the top coil (top of wick taken to centre pin) lights orange only and then pops!! the other lower coils do no light at all. Tried longer and short pulse burns but it happens every single bleedin time... using an aw 18500 with vapesafe any ideas or solutions please.... TIA

Edit: Just an afterthought. My device was regulated and I ran it at about 8 or 9 watts. If you run your mod unregulated there will be a different battery life. which i guess is where the kick comes in? thanks for the advice

hi all, I have taken the plunge and getting a mod (ikarus hybrid) and wondering about battery life on a 18350...how long will this last on average with being used at around 12-15 analogs a day and rest in pocket? people say the time in hours but is that just pure vape hours or idle hours? Also been reading a lot about kicks.. would like to get one but evolv pretty pricey, anyone used the smoketech one? maybe untill i save for an evolv! TIA
