Thanks for the warnings about meths guys! I think I will give that a miss. I can usually get hold of air-dusters quite cheaply though so I will bear the compressed air in mind Some of those little guys are gorgeous Gordy, but I'd still want something less ostentatious. Doubt I'd pay for one anyway. But they are nice to dream about as executive toys!

Only been vaping for a week and reckon it has probably cost about twice as much so far. However, depending on the kit and juice I finally end up liking, I reckon that at around five or six weeks I should hit the break-even point and after that be saving.
Of course, when I bought my starter kit I thought it would be only two weeks and a couple of days ago I thought it would be three to four weeks, but I don't intend to go mad. I just need to build up a supply of spares and work out my favourite juices. I hope!

Thanks for all the replies. You lot have been very helpful yet again! I wish I'd know that about tank systems when I ordered my starter kit (and even when I ordered my a bunch of spare atties)! My minimal research (I had thought it fairly comprehensive - A week of being here and on ECF plus watching VTTV has taught me how wrong I was!) had lead me to belief that direct dripping gave the best flavour and with the tank, every vape was like it had been direct dripped. I guess I was either mislead by what I read/watched on youtube or possibly, just as likely, misinterpreted it. I received a three pack of Mega Dual Coil Cartomisers today and although I have only filled one I have been highly impressed. I filled it with the the 11mg Golden Virginia that I have found is great for chain vaping and have really noticed an increase in the richness of the flavour as well as a better throat hit. I think I'm going to order two or three different tobacco flavours and a couple of other strong flavours from a different supplier and some standard size DCCs. I'll keep the mega sized ones for what ever becomes my stock chain vape flavour in the long run, and use the smaller ones for trying new flavours. I'll put the fruit flavours to one side for a few weeks and then try them again (I didn't dislike either, just found them disappointing). On the return of senses front, I am already noting some improvements. I had the three most flavourful pints of Bathams I can remember in years this evening and the room I am currently sitting in is definitely starting to smell (the only room in the house anyone has smoked in for several years). There are big pros and cons to the time of year I've started to vape, as whilst being able to sit inside the pub all night when it is cold is a big advantage, not being able to keep the window fully open 24 hours a day so the smell dissipates is not so good! I've already told my mother that my xmas list is likely to be made up of 90% vaping supplies and she is chuffed: a) That I am doing something far less harmful than smoking; and b) That I don't smell nearly as bad as I did a week ago! I never really believed that stuff about smokers smelling bad and being around smokers making non-smokers smell bad but for the first time in my life I am beginning to observe some evidence for it.

An over night Vodka bath has been known to help a little with some atomisers. Just had a thought. Might meths work as well as vodka? I can see several advantages. Firstly it will be cheaper. And secondly I won't be tempted to mix it with orange juice or tonic water and drink it!

Hi and welcome I only joined this forum yesterday and have been reading lots of older posts, all very informative I have been vaping for about a month, one thing I have found out is how the taste changes a lot. I like the pic n mix ideas given to you, in them you can order the menthol, tobacco and a few other flavours to try, I dont think you would waste money that way, even if you feel at first you didnt like some flavours, for example, when I started, I wanted a tobacco that was exactly like the fag that I used to smoke, I bought several tobacco flavours, not one was like it, some were nice, some not so, I also bought some fruit and coffee flavours, I hated the fruit, coffee was nice but only after a couple of days though, then a few days ago I tried the blackcurrant, now I just love it, its amazing the games your tastebuds will play with you, also, menthol added to any flavour perks it up, just dont add to much at a time. I have not worried about the few flavours I didnt first like, keeping them, I may find I love them later or mix a few drops of this or that to have a bit of fun. Choose a vendor, give them a ring, say what you like, and ask for a few off the wall flavours as well, it will be a whole new world very soon, I hope you enjoy vaping as much as me, good luck and please let us know how you get on, we all learn as we go and from eachother This is interesting, thank you. When I ordered my starter kit, I deliberately ordered juice that was advertised as tasting like my regular brand of tobacco (Golden Virginia). It wasn't spot on but was close enough. Within days though I found myself wanting to try other flavours and so ordered a 5 pack of 5 ml bottles from a well known supplier. They arrived today. I have tried 3 of them so far. Two, the apple and watermelon have been very disappointing. Whilst I get a hint of the flavour, it is minimal. The spearmint however, I am loving! There are several possible explanations for this, and I have no idea which, if any, is true. 1) This particular well known supplier's flavours aren't great and I would get a better experience with another supplier. (This doesn't explain why the spearmint is so good though and I can't comment on the two I haven't tried) 2) I'm using the Ego-T system and have only got one good atty, so although I have used a brand new tank for each flavour, the fact they have gone though an atty that has had Golden Virginia going through it for several days may have "poisoned the well". Certainly, both Watermelon and Apple as more subtle flavour normally than either tabacco or mint, so it could well be that it is simply risidual juice and it's residue in the atty that is masking the flavour of the subtler ones. 3) Reading your post does make me wonder if this isn't the most likely one: My taste and olfactory senses have been so dulled by nearly 20 years of smoking 40+ roll ups/day that it is unreasonable for me to expect to be able to appreciate anything but the strongest of flavours in the next few weeks. The more I think about it, the more a combination of reasons 2 and 3 seems to be the most likely explanation. I think I may follow you tip and put my apple and watermelon flavours to one side of a few weeks and then try them anew. This spearmint is awesome though and I may have to order more soon. I also very much want to try this RV4 that loads of people seem to love. But whoever I buy my next sampler pack from, I think in the short term, I need to be trying strong, dominant flavours, not subtle ones... Hope this is considered an adjunct to the thread, rather than a derail. I had considered starting a new thread to mention this anyway but it seemed to follow on neatly here...

Thanks for the info guys. So I guess it's really just pot luck as to the life span then and user action has little effect. Fortunately I'll have plenty of spares as of tomorrow (unless the Royal Mail are playing silly buggers as they are sometimes know to do ). I've definitely found though that resting it horizontally instead of standing it on it's end seams to produce a better vape though. It makes me wonder if there is a market out there for PV desk stands. I envisage a small block of polished wood with curved wire rising from it that you could rest your PV on. If I had the skills I'd have a go at making one for my self; I imagine that any that did become commercially available I would baulk at the price lol. Besides, I've found that between the numbers and function keys seems to work quite nicely whilst I'm sat at my keyboard. I'll keep experimenting. Thanks again guys!

Sorry, this is probably such a newbie question you will want to slap me round the face. I will let you Especially as I could possibly have found the answer by using the search function. If seen it reported in several places that attys can last for anything from 14-60 days (although occasional much less). I always knew that I would have to buy some more fairly soon and so have some on order (hopefully will receive on Thursday) as well as some of the Mega Dual Coil Cartos Andy Sutton was waxing lyrical about on VTTV the other night. However, of the two attys I got with my kit I had a brief period tonight, were I thought neither was working.I had previously identified one as as a good atty and one as poor but was hoping it would come good. I even contemplated having to go back to analogues for a day or two whilst I wait for deliveries. Fortunately my "good" atty returned to working well after a brief hiatus. My poor atty I can't get any vapour from at all. One thing I have noticed is I need to keep my PV horizontal when not in use (which will be a pain when it is in my pocket but oh well) whereas I have generally been balancing it in a vertical position. I have also started trying to vape with it horizontal instead of the angling down (much like a pipe) I have previously used. Elsewhere on foru, on youtube, etc, I have seen suggestions of boiling in coca-cola, soaking in vinegar and others. What are my best actions to attempt to prolong the life of my good atty and try to revive my failed one? I'm sorry, this question must have been asked 100 times or more here. If you can just point me to older threads with the answer I will be really truly grateful. Thank you in in advance and apologises for being so stupid

Well the discolouration due to rollups was prettty bad , so I figure vaping can't be any worse than rollups. The point is what causes the 'yellowing' ? Is it the nicotine , if so then your statements would be consistent.Only been vaping 2 weeks as well - so I can't tell the impact yet - still need to get my teeth whitenened at dentist from the smoking ! [Emphasis mine] Nicotine is colourless. It is the tar in tobacco that causes the colouring on teeth and fingers. Even though is is often referred to as "nicotine stains". The flavourings added my well have the effect of staining the teeth though of course whether they do or not will vary from flavour to flavour and manufacturer to manufacturer.
Lol thanks for getting back to me then Fuzzy I just wanted to check so I didn't overdoes on it, is it possible to use to much if you also use a toothwhitening toothpaste ?
I don't know if it is as effective as using pure bi-carb powder but there are bi-carbonate of soda based toothpastes on the market. I believe Arm and Hammer have one.
I have found personally, that in the few days I have been vaping, the discolouration of my teeth has decreased and the discolouration of my fingers is almost completely gone already
I have been using Clinomyn smokers toothpaste for several years now. This thread has caused me to wonder whether I should change to a different brand when my current tube runs out...

I'd love to go as I'm sure I could learn more in a few hours there than in a month or two of experimenting at home and searching fora/watching VTTV. But it's a two and a half hour journey by bus and train and I would have to leave by about half seven to get home. What's even more annoying is it's less than an hour's drive from here but I don't drive! Maybe next year, when I've got to know some forumites better I'll book a room in Tamworth and make the effort... Plus there is the fear that after attending an event like that, me my wonderful little eGo that I have come to love over the last five days will seem to be nothing but a pathetic toy and I will be compelled to spend hundreds of pounds on new kit! This is supposed to be saving me money, damn it! In between times, if anyone organises a pub night, like the one in Yorkshire the other week, in the Black Country or Central Brum I will be there

Good question, i love apples and pears, but when i vaped the same in juice i nearly threw up. I don't really have a sweet tooth and have found i don't like the sweeter juices either like cocomel, whiskey cream etc but i do like the cinnamon but that burns my lips so have stopped that one. Now i do love pizza with a bottle or two of wine so maybe that would be a nice vape !!! [Emphasis mine] Mmm wine! I know there are dozens of tobacco flavours out there and if the same could be done for wine I think that would be fab. So I could match what I was vaping to what I was drinking, be it Merlot, Shiraz, Cab-Sav, Rioja, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, White Zinfandel, etc.
