Thank you robby @scooby I'm a bit flipping skint but vaping is my only vice, I don't drink and I obviously don't smoke so I might pull the trigger on the VT40. It will take me a week to decide on the colour though. I'm leaning towards the black but I worry about the finish as I've got the touch a rhinoceros and don't want something that scratches easily. Jay Jay iv'e had my black vt40 for about a week and the finish is top class rock solid and as i keep barking on about ( it's tiny ) here it is up against sigelei mini

I've read through this thread as a total noob to temp protection/control and one thing that is jumping out at me is ni200 as a coil material is significantly lower in resistance when compared to kanthal. I've been thinking about the vt40 myself but is the temp protection/control better suited to sub ohm builds due to the low resistance of ni200? That might seem a silly question but as I stated in the first line I'm a noob to temp reg/con. My current build in my sub tank mini is .37 kanthal 8 wraps 2.5mm inner diameter, heated and squeezed, coming out at around 1.1 ohm's. I'm using this with my red astaire at 16w. Reading this thread I'm thinking the resistance of this same build except with ni200 would be a lot lower resistance ? Sub homing tends to be done at higher wattages than that which usually suit me. It just feels to hot and harsh. Is this then where the temp pro/reg is going to help me out ? My humble appologies if this has been covered dozens of times already but I usually need things in idiot proof terms. I also appologies mxethey if you feel I'm hijacking your thread for my own info. Jay I'm still reading over and over the posts jay till the penny drops, i think you have a valid point, keep them coming you never know it might all make sense after a couple of pimms cider.

mxetheyMy bread and butter, vape about 20ml a day through kayfuns....get nothing more outer larger builds, its bottle necked by the air and juice channels. 5 spaced wraps over airhole, .3 ni200 2.5 dia, standard wicking, typical around 0.12ohms, out of all the stuff I own still my favourite tank for flavour. 430f 20watts, uses about 15 watts average to run at that temp. wow 20ml a day that makes me feel ok vaping about 10ml I have to say i'm a big fan of the rose, taifun but i pulled out the kayfun 3.1 yesterday and it's s great smooth vape with good airflow, much better than my kayfun lites. I put a build in it today 9or10 wraps 3mm 28/29 awg vaping at 12.5w came out 0.09 not sure if thats good or not. On the hcigar vt40 450f

Ok guys and girls, I started this thread hoping for some basic setup guides on coil build, temp setting,watts/jules on tanks and drippers Whilst i love the technical debate it's starting to go over my head a bit Could somebody start a list for example like below that would help a lot of us switching over to tc: coil material: coil inner diameter: coil wraps: coil gage: coil spaced/closed: temp setting: power setting watts/jules: device rta/subtank/rda: As you can see we can and do use temp control/protection differently. Way I see it..control is you over power the coil and let the chip run the coil at a set temperature. Others use it as "protection" run the atty at the watts you normally use and if you run low on juice or feck your wicking up etc it protects you from a dry hit...I use the former "control" so on that basis; coil material: organic cotton coil inner diameter: dependant on the juice channels. Not point having a 4mm dia when you only have 2mm to feed it. coil wraps: 5-7 dependant on the air hole and deck screws, I don't like legs kicking back on them selfs. coil gage: large as I can go above minimum ohms. 0.09 DNA 0.05 on the SXMini...just under spec and any lower seems to play up. coil spaced/closed: spaced temp setting: 380-430f power setting watts/jules: 5-10 watts above the temp I want to run at Don't like twisted nickel, tried it 3 times now and can taste the wire, other like it, I just use a lower gauge. Tried to keep it universal and Hope it helps somewhat, go have play. Appreciated I'm getting there slowly, hopefully the thread will keep going and the penny will drop Any suggestions on a dual coil build got a velocity on the way

I don't think so robby but I feel it's best to call it 6 one and 1/2 doz of the other and do as VapingBad said because it's not good to have two long standing and respected members who have a lot offer the rest of us bickering. number 1, I was not bickering, that started with vapingbad, I dont do bickering, never have. If someone has a problem with me I ask them to take it to PM as I always have done here. I dont want this crap on the threads any more than you do. number2 Does that post at the top of the page make any sense at all to you because it doesn`t to me. Why would I post it that like that. It`s just a quote, and as such doesn`t say anything derogatory. As I have said, if anyone has a problem with any of that, take it to PM. I dont want it here. Subject closed on this as far as I am concerned. My apologies to mxethey for any annoyance I have caused. No annoyance caused robby, i value yours and vapingbad views on the subject. Please can you both continue with the great info for all of us

lol? My IPV4 does not scorch once I find the proper reference/calibration/burning point and stick to it. So robby is that case no matter what you set the wattage to.

I have a couple of barrel tumblers with ss shot might work? I'll chuck a old ss tank in and see, also have carbide grits etc as well so I could try them. Would need a nut on the 501 to feel threads good though. It won't be for a week though as I've got some rocks in tumbling atmo and they are all hard mofos, 7-8 mohs scale from memory. Been chugging away for 10 days all ready and only on stage 1 grit. Very nice of you igual to offer, but was hoping to get one from fasttech of the shelf
