New day different mod. Now using the eVic Been up for a few hours using this on the same setup as yesterday and I seem to be getting a better vape. I dont know why but it is. I think letsavit has hit the nail on the head. These mods are bad at giving you the correct starting resistance. In his case I would take a guess that the res is measuring too high and therefore he has to set the temp below what would be expected. Both mine seem to read the res lower than the actual, so I am finding I have to use higher temps(500) than is the norm to get the vape I want. Maybe if I apply this to the D2 next time I use it, that will improve as well. Getting a good vape from this today though.

Yes it gives a 1 second burst then stops and shows 'no liquid' message. I did a full 10 seconds or more until the message dissipated and it was obvious that it had stopped. Did that at 500 and no marks on cotton. I did after give it 5 short bursts of 1 second at 500 and it was a different story. Seems to me like the limiting doesnt kick in for the first second and giving it 5 x 1 second bursts may bypass the limiting before it has chance to react. I would really expect their to be less scorching at those lower temps.

Right did the burn test. Here is the eVIC The reason for it looking like I started backwards is the 1st cotton I was getting no marks at all up to 500 then I figured that with no juice it looked like it was sending no power to the coil. So I got new piece and blew on the coils whilst holding the fire button which seemed to do the trick, hence its a bit cock-eyed The D2 is going to be tricky as it senses it is dry and gives a 'no liquid' message and stops after about 1 second??? so I cant see a way round that.

OK you two, don't fall out trying to help me....I appreciate advice from both of you. I havnt done a burn test yet robby . When I tried out the evic for the 1st time I had it set at 520 which was way too high(my experience of the SMY not working properly) and noticed that the cotton was getting scorched so turned it down to 420. Have been using the D2 now as it was the one that was causing me concern with it not firing at the specified limits. So want to make sure it was working properly at the higher res that it will fire.(the SMY again, something was causing it to read the res wrong and everything was shot from there.) I will vape this one dry and do a test just so I know what point it starts burning the cotton. ATM I have it set at 445 and 40J on a the duel coil above that it is reading it at .09 Ill do them both once its dry and see if they are 1.) reading the res the same and 2.) too see if the cotton burns at the same point or not.

Thats what I mean about the 'steadier draw'. I'm thinking TC needs more subtle approach than the kanthal and you need to be a bit more relaxed in the way you draw. Closing the airflow puts the brakes on a bit and you get a decent vape. I mean you wouldnt be able to do that with kanthal, not without a lung full of yuk. I didnt even notice it was drying out.

Took your advice VapingBad and things are looking up. Thought about the spreading out and decided to try 4mm coils of .35 Ni 12 wraps each. I dont know If this is exactly what you meant as the spacing between loops is closer This is working better than the last set-up. I can see that pre-heat is a good thing to have as I need to wait for a second or so and then take a much steadier draw than I would on a kanthal set-up. It's starting to hit the spot though so thats good. Thanks.

I think the issue is not with the monster base, but the other base that a few have tried. The only event that I have seen is one of the center pins snapping when it was being tightened up (which they do need). I have had loads of separate parts to use with these and everything fits just fine. Its a pretty good vape at around .7 -.8 and around the 30W mark. Yep I was on about the 2 air hole normal one, not the monster one. Can't believe they wanted a video of me stood like a lemon trying to demonstrate the problem!!! They gave me store credit for it literally a couple hours after I sent the link to the vid though so I think you should give it a go re your D2 hijack Yes defiantly...They dont know I got it working at higher resist as I managed that after I got the 'send us a vid' routine. But it should fire at .05 so as I waited 2 months for this to be sent out, I think I'm due a free-bee.

I've just received a couple of monster bases, along with 2 chimneys & bell caps from FT............... and luckily they all go together fine. All parts also fit my original kayfun parts too, so I would say some people have unfortunately had bad batch products ....... I think the issue is not with the monster base, but the other base that a few have tried. Bit of a late reply - sorry! They wouldn't accept a photo of mine and said the supplier wanted a video. Wasn't going to bother but in the end got my son to film me trying to put the chimney and then a tank on and off. Then had to upload it youtube and send them the link. Pain in the bum but I got full store credit back a couple of hours after. Not going to bother ordering another until I know for sure its a new batch!! [/quote] made a mess of that^^^^. Thats good to know, the D2 I got wont fire below .08 when it should go to .05 so i opened a ticket saying 'it keeps showing a short message when there isnt one', and got the same response about needing the video. Maybe if I do a video of it with a .06 setup and show it working afterwards on my evic they may give me a credit as well.

Have to say having got the evic and the D2 at the begging of the week, the evic seems to be the better vape. The pulse effect is less noticable than the D2 and i think the temp limiting is smoother. Still novice with TC so dont take that as gospel, but with them both set the same the evic wins for me.

Same thing happens to me with new tanks...The goblin, KFMonster, and Goliath all leaked so bad I thought it must be the tanks and I had to go out with tissue wrapped around the tank in case it started to pour juice while in my pocket. The monster turned out to be a loose center pin that once tightened the leaking stop. The other 2 were just a case of setting the wicks right. The video that decoy posted in the other thread is a good guide to getting them setup. I am not as aggressive with the scissors as that, but a bit of a trim is needed and maybe a prod with a tiny screwdriver after the chamber is screwed on to make sure the wick is in the channel.

Its the same with the standard goblin, you just need to get enough wick in the top half of the channels and it will prevent any leaks. Dont go overboard as you will 'choke' the wick when you screw the top on. After a few goes you'll have it sussed.
