Nice work similar to the module i've got for a boost circuit by the looks of it - mines a bit smaller than that though lol but then i also have to build my own - by the looks it's not as big as it seems on the photos as those voltage displays are tiny and they look bigger also - let us know how you get on

No such thing as a daft question mate - i've asked the very same question as you and read copious amounts of information on the subject - if there's one piece of advice i would re-iterate from everything i've read is spend money on decent batteries - We all love a bargain me included but a candle is a cheap nightlight ya just risking it falling over

think I still have a large piece of vero board in my garage if it's of any worth to you Sure the more parts the merrier if you get chance root it out mate - i'm in no hurry for any bits but i have plenty of room to store them

Ok i'll try to answer everyones questions in one go as that's what happens when i go to work hehe It will be a parallel 2x18650 mod parallel is more dangerous IF there is onboard charging which there won't be - in terms of using a mod parallel is less dangerous than serial (stacking) but still not without it's problems hence this one will be made to fit protected batteries. Macca is correct it's a 2 wire voltmeter displays from 3.2 to 30V dc without needing extra power - here's the link www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290638862924?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649It won't display anything but voltage im sure there are programmable displays out there but i don't have enough knowledge on that to program my own. The mod uses a ptn04050C chip which will output somewhere around 3.78 - 6.12V using the reistors and caps that i have the bonus with having the batteries in parallel is that it will work (with more strain but not outside the batteries tolerances) with one battery only. The size of the mod is approx 3-4mm shorter than the lavatube and fits snugly in the hand the other bonus is that the components will happily sit at a 3amp draw meaning lower resistance at a higher voltage than the lava will do (at the moment) The fire button on there won't be used on this mod as it's only a 2a button and although it will probably tolerate more than that i prefer to use more suitable components so a 3a switch will be fitted. Any more questions feel free to ask away as it may be something i haven't noticed myself but i am using a tried tested and in production circuit for this mod so that part at least i know will work fine and dandy . Oh and i'm also thinking about sanding the boxes down and covering in vinyl for extra colour options.

Giz you can make it more permanent - you can either drill a hole in a seperate part of the top or if you want it dead center (take the connection you have out) put some tape over the usb sized hole making sure its nice and stuck round the edges of the hole and from the inside pool in some epoxy resin - leave it for a day to set fully and then drill where you need it to be holding the connection in place with a little more resin afterwards Resin sets far far harder than hot glue i use a 2 part plumbers epoxy yup that's for the twin 18650's when the wire turns up - i got on/off rocker switches for the usb hole and the 510 connection is going to the left

they will fit but leave a 1mm gap between the casing and bottom cap but honestly they are crap - much better off with the panasonics you listed
