At the risk of being horribly repetitive here . . . . but I saw someone say that old atty's never die they just get used on a GD Passthru . . . . it really is true, shove a fading atty on it with a mains adaptor, the extra voltage sparks new life into the thing. The PT pays for itself with the extra life you get from your atomisers. A good advert for the old Gary Dibly Perpy When mine start to die I may buy a GD to bring them back to life. And you are not being horribly repetitive either. You are just in helpful mode and I love it. Ken. x((( perpy )))

You've reminded me that I bought some gorgeous looking blue and red 901 batteries when they first came out - they were totally USELESS. scylla Now this i simply don't understand as at the end of the day its only a paint job on the same atty. ???

"Last" with an atty is a matter of perception - if you think an atty is lasting really well, try comparing it with a new one - mostly you will find it is actually not working very well at all... Thanks for your words of wisdom Prof. I think they just about sum things up. Ken.

Kenny, I should add that though my 4081 atties where still working after 6 months, they where pretty pathetic by then - but they hadn't completely died. Don't matter Chrissie, you still hold the record.

Thanks for the links Chrissie. Bye the way did you notice that you and I both quoted Perpy's same words at exactly the same time. Ken. x

Although, I have to say, as much as it grieves me to accept the concept of an atomiser being such a throwaway item, I also dread to think of the thousands of £'s over the years I've set fire too without much hesitation. A good point Perpy and of course that is why we all continue to enjoy this healthier and tastier alternative to smoking. Are there any more surprises and can anybody beat Chrissie's over 6 months with an atty? Ken.

Kenny, yes it is down to quality control. I bet the Chinese factories sell atties on to vendors for not much more than a couple of quid! (May be very wrong with that estimate though & more than happy to be put right). If that is the case, what is the factory mark up? Peanuts! So unless the majority of us are prepared to pay more...... As for longest lasting atties - over 6 months for me. That was with RN4081's when I first started vaping. Over 6 months Chrissie whow!!! Do they still sell these. Ken.

So is it just a lack of quality control then? It does seem strange though that some last quite a long time and others fail at the start. ??? The fact that some last longer surely must mean that they all could be made that way or am I missing something. Okay Buckowski's atty is the longest lived so far at 10 weeks. Has anyone had one that lasted longer? Ken.

The reason I ask the question is that some vendors not all tend to push the fact that atties are disposable and therefore they will not guarantee them. Indeed I had a bit of a run in with a vendor several months ago in regard to three atties that I had bought that lasted two days each before they died. It was explained to me at the time that there was a no returns policy and the atty would only have been replaced if it had been dead on arrival and that I would have had to pay the return postage. I have learned since but too late that this was illegal and that under the distance selling regulations that the goods were not fit for purpose so should have been replaced at the vendors expense. Okay, rant over, water under the bridge and all that crap. It is a fact however that some makes of atties seem to last longer than others. I have seen on some forums claims of atties living 6 months and longer. So is it a case of you get what you pay for as in cheap atties are crap or is it pot luck. Or is it simply that some users don't know how to look after their atties. In my own case I am using a Titan 510 LR atty purchased in the TECC sale and still sold by Totally Wicked. This atty has lasted me nearly 8 weeks and is as good now as day 1. I use it on a Tornado battery, I don't clean it but merely blow it out once at night. I never let it get dry but other than that do nothing special with it. So is it just luck? How long has your atty lasted? Ken.

Its because we have been brainwashed, conditioned into thinking that we will not be able to quit once we start smoking so we believe it and if you believe it, it happens. Its a bit like giving someone a plasibo and convincing them that its the latest wonder drug and will cure them. If you can convince them it will work. Just some thoughts in my head of course lol. Ken.

Just an afterthought: For the experiment I bought from the chemist here 100 ml of VG. I bought in the UK some menthol crystals which last a long time. Total cost 3 squid. I got a 10ml bottle and nearly filled it with VG and added 20 drops of Vodka to thin it and then added 3 crystals. Beautiful if you like menthol. Total cost for 10mls 15 pence. I still use this if I feel a bit spaced after using the nic juice especially if I have been drinking as I tend to chain vape. I would nearly go as far as saying that if there was a ban that I could get by on this. So are we really addicted or is it all in the mind. All I know for sure is that I had this bad habit for 50 years. ??? Ken.

Yes Lynda, I am beginning to wonder if nicotine is indeed as addictive as has been proclaimed in the past. I have tried a little experiment on myself where I have spent one day vaping 18mg juice and next day vaped no nic juice and have not had any withdrawal symptoms on the day with no nic. ??? Hand to mouth habit seems to satisfy as you say plus vapour. A little bit mysterious I think but maybe not. It could be just habit. Ken.
