Hi Goofy, thanks for that, the 1.8 coils read 2 ohms close enough? Don't have a proper checker, just using the one on the istick. I will order some new coils from another vendor and start over.

Ha Ha!! Nip away for an hour and the Frankie Howard appreciation society invades! Loving that! Just checked out 'squonking' I don't think it is for me just yet. Just been back to their site and seen a lot of the boxes are out of stock. Would the dolphin, puzzle and turtle models be suitable to build a 'normal' box mod? I would like V/W if possible. Ooo err missis, keep them innuendos coming! Cheers for now

Hi pippin, don't want to rain on your parade but you might want to read my thread 'Burning wicks' in the tips and troubleshooting section. Just saying.

Greetings all, Being a carpenter /joiner I quite fancy a nice bit of timber in my hand. I was looking around for some plans to build a mod and came across this company. boxmod.ecwid.com/ Sorry, don't know how to post links. Website is a bit strange and can't seem to get a good discription. They look nicely made to me. I would like your opinions please. Many thanks

Liquid hasn't gone up at all, i'm paying the same now as i was in 2009/10. What has changed is the number of more accessible cheaper liquid manufacturers and the amount of people that are mixing their own, after which everything seems expensive. IMO most people start to moan about prices once their ADV is a premium juice rather than a pound a bottle jobby. At the end of the day there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration: 1) The mixers designing of the juice - this takes time, wasted materials, time, wasted materials etc. 2) The prices are kept stable by a few big juice manufacturers, once one goes up they will all go up. 3) You don't have to buy it. I love Loius Tres but i don't buy it at £600+ a bottle. Think drugs, a cancer drug costs £100m to design. A new drug gets a 20 year patent but it takes 14 years to design, manufacture, trial and get to the market. That gives them 6 years to get the £100m back before the drug is out of patent and everyone can manufacture it (the reason that cancer drugs are so expensive). It's the same with e-liquids, they have to make their money back fast before something better turns up or it is replicated. TL;DR: What's the cost of saving your life from the stinkies? Pleeeease Sarin, To compare juice makers to research scientists is ridiculous, some of the juices l have had taste more like some redneck farmers home brew! Chuck a couple of buckets of chemicals in a bath and stir it with a dead animal bone. I am not disputing the skills of some mixologists but scientists they are not. It's a business. Await incoming flak.

I am so pleased somebody has brought this subject up Andy. As a new vaper (10 weeks) I have been really struggling with the equipment and the juice. With the kind help of people on here I am sure I will soon be sorted on the practical side but am not so sure on the juice front. I admit that I am really fussy about food and drinks. When I smoked , I only used Senior service cigarettes, a prime brand, not freely available and went to great lengths to buy them when they became harder to buy. Finding a suitable juice for me has meant buying approx 40 types, budget, mid and premium ranges. Whilst the "prime" juices have managed to get rid of the disgusting chemical taste found in many budget ranges, they are certainly not worth 10 times the price.Plenty of sharks in every walk of life. They ain't gonna have much more of my wonga!

OK Perps, thanks for being so patient with me, I'm happy enough with the protank which I use with fruit flavours.I'll put another well soaked coil in the nautilus and try again. I use premium tobacco types in this tank and maybe I'm just expecting too much. My aim is to drop the tobacco flavours a bit down the road. Cheers for now. Now where can I get hold of an ozzyscope? Ha!

Disco, thanks for your input, just wish things did what they say on the tin. Is there a small accurate device on the market, purely out of interest. Cheers for now.

becks You CANNOT read the true output of a VW VV device with a meter, you need a oscilloscope. The output is switched on and off so part of the time it is outputting 6 volts and part of the time it is outputting 0 volts, it is the average of this that gives you the output. The more time the coil is at 6 volts the higher the average output* iSticks actually give out what they say they do BUT it's measured/calculated in a different way to most VV VW devices. As Perpetua says the best thing to do is dis-regard what the display says and start low in either volts or watts and increase slowly until you find what works best for you. * I have made this a simple analogy to make it easy to understand.

OK Perps baby? I get your gist. I will try taking it up 1 watt at a time and see if I can find the sweet spot that way. The coils say their range is 3.3 --6volts. Is that 18.6 watts? Just seems to me that something is wrong when mine are burning at 7.5w Sumint ain't right. Aspire owes me lots of coils!! The sooner I start building my own the better I reckon! Thanks again.

Perps, (can I call you that or is it too cheeky for a newbe?) I am not interested in gazillions of watts, just enough to get a decent vape. I have 2 tanks, the nautilus and a protank which I get an okish vape from on 5 istick watts. I want to know if both isticks output is the same, hence the multimeter. Just saves me messing about when I switch mods. I have also found that once you burn the aspire bvc coil, that's game over. No amount of backing the watts down takes away the rank taste.Just trying to keep it simple, should have explained it better I suppose. Cheers for now

becks sorry I can't help here But sure one of the electric guys will be along later to help If your wicks are burning maybe try a rinse under a tap? Rewick? or put in bicarb of soda or water and a denture tab over night? VTR, thanks for that, I have washed the coils, soaked them in bi_carb overnight with mixed results, never been as good as new ones out of the box. I don't do coiling yet but did a rewick of a Nature vape yesterday so I'm on my way! So frustrating when you can't see what you're doing wrong! Or maybe it's the isticks at fault. Well I would say that wouldn't I!! Cheers for now

I am truly amazed at your figures Matty, everyone I know and everything I read about the istick volt regulation system says the same thing. It's Pants! You restore my faith brother. I am not dissing the istick persay . think it's a great little mod and no doubt will improve in time. P.S. wanna sell yours? Ha. Cheers for now.
