Thanks from both of us for all of the kind wishes - it means a lot. Looking at all of your successes is really encouraging my Gran.
She's now got the SD keyring social smoker ordered and coming in the post soon, so fingers crossed she'll find it really useful. Hopefully once she's started and knows what it's like, she can play around with things until she finds something that works best for her.

Absolutely brilliant. Given the recommendations for the SD and the way it looks, that seems exactly right for her. She'll need a USB to mains adapter (I think it's a longshot introducing the concept of USB to her when she doesn't even own a PC), but that's simple to find.
Thanks from me and my Gran for all of the advice, you guys are fab, and absolutely lovely for sharing your experience so openly and kindly.

Thanks again. You guys are fantastic.
She seems dead against the SD keyring, as it doesn't look enough like a cig for her.
The 510 looks good from her point of view. Am I right in thinking if she got two of these, she could charge them, screw in a cartomizer, and get going straight away? It wouldn't need any other attachments or anything? Also, would anyone recommend any specific prefilled cartomizers that work with the 510 which have a good flavour?
I also showed her the Realis video, which she seemed really impressed with, but then you posted about how some people aren't happy with them Chrissie, so I guess that's not an option!

Wow, thanks for the fast replies.
Prefilled sounds like the best solution for her really. I live 2 hours away, I'm just down at the moment to support her during her investigations and treatment for the next few weeks, but in the longer run, I'm not going to be able to refill them for her.
I've shown her the SK, and she's asked if there's anything that looks more like a cigarette? From searching, the one that looks the most appealing to her in terms of appearance is the VIP, although people's reports seem to be that that's a bit rubbish?

Hi there, sorry if the following question is stupid.
I'm writing for some advice on ecigs on behalf of my Grandmother. She's recently received a diagnosis of lung cancer, and is keen to stop smoking. She's tried patches before but they didn't really help, and would prefer something she can hold and smoke like a cigarette.
She's been smoking Superkings Blue, around 15 a day since forever. She's also completely technically incompetent (hence why I'm posting this for her, she's only just gotten her head around mobile phones), so from a brief look, anything involving injecting, refilling isn't really going to work for her. Simplicity is key here.
So basically, I was wondering if there are any solutions that people could suggest, which would require minimum effort on her half, but which are still effective? I understand that the best solutions probably involve some degree of technical fiddling, but as she's really not likely going to be able to cope with much more than the very simple, some effectiveness will probably need to be compromised to help her stay with this "new fangled gadget".
Thanks a lot for any suggestions, it's greatly appreciated.
