I've finally managed to make a juice I like and can taste. Not sure what is wrong with me. I don't want to appear big headed but I am a very good cook with a fairly good sense of taste. When it comes to diy liquids however all I have produced so far is either tasteless or just so so . That is untill I tried the tobacco extraction and came up with this. Now the amounts used here seem really strong to me on paper when I look at other recipe's but this is what works for me just now. Munky juice 3ml 50mg pg nic 2.5ml Homemade tobacco extraction (burley and canadian flue cured) 1.5ml CCW caramel Toffee 1ml homemade vanilla extraction 1ml VG .5ml CCW licorice 7 drops PA dulce de leche 5 drops F'art anise 3 drops vape wizard I made the vanilla with some old pods from the cupboard, I assume fresh would be stronger. If this recipe is too full on you could cut it with 15mg unflavoured juice. Many thanks to Frogster

Wow munky.... First congrats on finding something you like....
To my reckoning that’s about close to 60% Flavour of total mix (pretty high), using 7 different flavours..... 5 of them, what I would call main flavourings. you may find that you can cut these considerably by allowing enough steeping stages as you make it up.
The Tobacco extract should be pre steeped for at least a week before use, (as I would think should the Vanilla extraction) as the flavour will continue to develop.
Combining that many main flavourings is problematic when it comes to blending and replication, just adding them in a different order can change the overall taste next time you make it.
3 of them I would only mix in stages i.e. The Base +1 flavour, rest then add 1 more flavour, rest and so on (letting each one blend for at least 24 Hrs before adding the next) as they can clash… and then a final steeping of 1 week. So I would be looking at about 3 to 4 weeks from start to finish before I could taste / assess it.
A commercial nightmare, but for a DIYer that may not be a problem, if you have the resolve to wait that long.
But, if it works for you, I am happy. (all I am saying is expect it to change over time).

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated and greatly needed. Although I've read alot about mixology, its seems im needing to make the mistakes im being cautioned against before they sink in. It makes sense of what has been happening. I've been mixing alot of flavours at about 20% on their own and been dissapointed with the lack of any flavour. I have many caramel/toffee/butterscotch flavour's and 4 different maple ones. None of which I can taste particullaly well. I had assumed I hadn't found the right one but It would seem, from what your saying, that steeping time may be the issue. I have been tasting them about a hour after mixing and again after a few days. Im pretty sure its not the equipment as I've been using them in 3 different set ups. Looks like I should go back and test again the single flavour mixes I've already made which now have been steeping for a couple of weeks. Im also going to dilute the above recipe with 50% 15mg unflavoured and leave it for a couple of weeks and see what happens. If I can cut down on flavourings it will do my wallet alot of good. Mind you the above recipe does taste great to me after 24hours, so I'll keep it in me book as an emergency flavour should I need juice in a hurry. Im going through about 4-6ml of juice a day at the moment so it will be usefull untill steeped supply matches demand. Having spent alot on the diy stuff Im reluctant to spend more on premade juice for a while. Thanks again for the advice and I'll put it into practice. Looks like I'll need me some more bottles

Strengths are the most difficult to determine I've found, particularly because of the vast difference between the flavour houses, for instance I made 30ml of Boston cream pie yesterday from Capella using the regular 20% only to discover it is massively more powerful than any of the other Capella stuff I've used. I had to cut in more nic, pg and vg to a 50 ml bottle, so 9% flavouring total an still smells strong, I'll give it a test in a day or three to see what I can add to it, this is probably gonna end up as a 100 ml concoction, still, I'll have plenty

I have two flavours that are insane, vapourzone toffee and butterscotch. Not unplesant but more than two or three drops in 10ml is too much for me.I'd be totally happy if they tasted exactly like toffee or butterscotch but they seem to be just one aspect of those flavours. Oh well if it was too easy it would be boring

I'm glad you said that about Capella's Boston Cream Pie Skwoddy, I've some that has still to be used and I would have dived in with my normal 25% . . . though I'd have given it the lick test first. At least a week I leave my creations before testing them Munky, Caramesl etc, do all benefit considerably from being leave to infuse . . . .
