Had a first attempt into mixology, and added "some" rum flavouring from supermarket into the remnants of my Expresso..... Certainly wowed me all day, 2 of my favourite tastes all wrapped up together, and lucky I didn't get stopped by Police for my car smelling like a brewery . Need new syringes that don't jam and squirt so I get an accurate measurement, but very surprised with the result Mono

Did a little research before hand, the flavouring was a simple water/ethanol based Silver Spoon one. Vaped fine and didn't set myself on fire. I take it these are ok to use as NOT oil based flavouring. ?
On the recipes quoting 'rum', do they mean actual rum or flavouring ?

Yes, it's fine Mono . . . oil is a definite no no as you've gathered. The only thing with supermarket flavourings is that they do tend to be weaker and not hold their flavour so well as the likes of Capella etc.
But to have a dabble, then they're adequate as long as you bear that in mind.
It would be a flavouring essence, not an actual alcoholic rum.

Saw it at Sainsbury's the other night, was just thinking is it worth 7 quid?

Yes, it's very pleasant - but it is a coil gunker I'm finding. If you're not bothered about the custard notes in TPA's French Vanilla Deluxe, then I'd probably stick with that for a Vanilla Concentrate, or use Vanillin Crystals. I wouldn't buy it again, although I''ve satisfied my curiosity trying it.

Just got back frpm a Tesco's shop, most of their stuff is oil based, Sainsburys had a host of Silver Spoon stuff that is Water/Ethanol. Think I will stick to CCW or ECW to start with just to keep initial orders simple and build from there.

You'll likely be disappointed overall with Supermarket flavourings Mono, it's false economy in the main really. Don't forget Capella, their range/quality is the best I've tried, plus so many of their flavours are great ' standalones ' which when you're starting out is very useful.

Either Frogster ( Alchemist's Cupboard ) or Leisure Liquids Mono . . . Frog's work out a better deal with our forum discount code I think.

Questions questions Leisure Liquids page says "PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A FLAVOUR CONCENTRATE AND NEEDS TO BE DILUTED BEFORE USE", erm ?

Questions questions Leisure Liquids page says "PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A FLAVOUR CONCENTRATE AND NEEDS TO BE DILUTED BEFORE USE", erm ? Lol . . . it's a concentrated flavouring that needs to be diluted with nicotine base/PG/VG, like all the flavourings we buy for mixing Mono. It's not unheard of for vapers to think they're ready made eliquid and use neat, so I guess they want to emphasize the fact that dilution is required.
