Yes, I agree with you entirely Jay.
This is more for customers who we have built up trust with over a few orders and obviously not for high value stuff.
It's just a pain when someone has to drive to the PO to collect a couple of atty's or similar.

Mine don't even attempt to deliver un-recorded small parcels that would go through a letter box, they just leave a card. I'd imagine that the weight of a number of small parcels makes their load a bit heavy to tote and that's why they do that. Just a bit frustrating when you've paid to have something delivered and still have to make a car journey to go collect it.

i think its much more better to be sent recorded Certificates of Posting cover up to £40-odd, the same cover as for Recorded. Anything over that value has to go Special if it is to be covered. IMO Recorded is unnecessary and inconvenient. scylla

Scylla exactl! If I send anything it is by special delivery as it's tracked all the way to your front door and has alot less chance of goin missing
Recorded only gets a signature at the other end and could go anywhere in between

i was talking to the postman who delivered a parcel a few days ago and an intresting fact he told me is that they are now forced to deliver registered or next day delivery parcels as priority now and the example he gave me was if next door was to have a registered or next day delivery delivered to his house and he had a normal or recorded delivery parcel in the back of his van for me he could not deliver me mine untill he has delivered all his important mail so it would mean that he has to come back to my house later in the day if he had time.
1st class recorded if lost can be claimed back if the value does not exede £44 but if you are a retailer selling say a pair of jeans for £40 you can only claim back the value which you paid in the first place which would be a lot less than the selling price that you commanded from your customer. the post office have some weird rules these days which ive studied in great length now being a vendor on were i stand on claims and missing items.

Jesus! I didn't expect such a large response Lol I have a few tales to tell about the PO. About 5 years ago I missed out on a bloody good job at Northumbria University for an interview and all because the PO sent it to the wrong not even similar address, I got the letter about a week late! I was told by the PO that the foreign postmen were to blame and they san't speak or read English! I was even told they re-sorted the letters on the pavement. The postman I have is ok although our mail comes anytime from 2pm-4pm its not him thats the problem now its the jackasses who drive around in the van who won't leave parcels with a neighbour. Oh yeh and whats happened the the nice navy and blue uniforms they used to wear, our postman wears a pair of baggy tracksuit bottoms and a sweatshirt.
I once got a red card through my door, so I went to pick up the parcel, they couldnt find it and the Post Office gentleman just shrugged his annoying little shoulders and said its not here it muct be lost! When i said I want it so look harder he said what was in it? I said i don't know because I enter loads of competitions and it could be anything. The squeaky voiced little pratt just shrugged his annoying little shoulders and said, tough then there's nowt we can do about it!
I should have punched him too!
Sorry but I don't have enough memory in my computer to list all my experiences and if I could swear on this forum I would.

They aren't too bad around here. Every few streets there is a big green locked container and the mail for each street is put in there and the postman just has to pick it up. Our postman is here at about 9:30 every morning and seems ok. When he first started he delivered some of next doors mail to us but never had a problem since.
