. . . . in my kitchen, and no it's not Caramel ejuice before any of you wags says that. Started last night and at first I thought it was Sammy with a touch of windy pops . . . but it was still there this morning. Have been walking around sniffing in all the possible culprits, fridge, dishwasher, sink & washing machine - they're all fine, thanks to the various deodorizers you can get for them. A bottle of bleach has also gone down the sink, to no avail, the smell is still here . . . what can it beeeeee!

Are you sure it's not the fridge Perps ? When they "go" they sometimes release a gas like smell. When ours "went" i couldn't work out where the smell was coming from. It actually seemd to making the living room smell like a toilet. I assumed we had a broken sewer pipe that ran under the floor (?? i know). It was that bad some days. Just in time we worked out it was the fridge leaking gas.

Lol Curtis! That's what it smells like, something decomposing in my very room! I've got the torch out, rooted around with a blunt instrument under the appliances and can find nothing, other than balls of fur and the odd morsel of doggie biccie. . . . it's driving me nuts!

I had to get a new sofa because my cat got in the lining and peed inside the sofa. Every time you sat on it you could smell it and no amount of any cleaning stuff got rid of it!!
What does it smell like??

Sometimes a rat can get trapped and die behind the wooden units on the floor; and due to the design of the cupboards, without removing them, you can't see anything, but the smell escapes. Does it smell like something has died and is putrefying? Is the smell worsening as the animal becomes further corrupted?

Oooo . . . I think you may well be right Del, I've not had the fridge that long either - is it dangerous?

It's not my rats peeing in my slippers, I'm pretty certain of that . . . it's a green gassy windy pop sort of smellie.

mmmmmmmmmm strange that my mom noticed a smell at her house and at first put it down to drains weeks went buy and gallons of bleach went down the drain still a smell. then me and my dad decided to get the washer out and as soon as we moved it we found it. the bottom left hand side of the washer there is what i think an overspill tray gently pulled it out and the smell was un real, god knows how long the water was there but a good clean and all is well, they now clean it once a fortnight,

Washing machine all ok River, I give it a good boil wash every month now . . . deffo the fridge and gas escaping as Del rightly deduced, I'd only smelt inside and not down the back. I'll go onto John Lewis's webbie and order a new one tomorrow, hopefully they can deliver Thursday - just as well I'm on holiday this week to sort it, just what I wanted, a new fridge. Thanks everyone for the suggestions as to the cause of the smelly issue.

nine times out of ten in my kitchen anyway, any pooh-smell has always been removed by a VERY vigouous plunging of the sink like.
it always gets me- bleach and disinfectant may mask the smell for a while but anything manky is still rotting at the bottom of the u-bend thingy until it is squished out
