I've had a pair of good quality but weak reading glasses for a long time. I don't need them to read a book, but they are good for things like product codes on small labels.
I also use them for rewicking, but thought I'd get some stronger ones for that. I went to Boots and got the strongest from their cheap range (cheaper on-line, but I don't always have the patience).
I don't know why, but they are no better for rewicking than the good quality weak ones, possibly a bit worse. Maybe it has something to do with light absorbed rather than passed on.
So, if seeing the coils is getting tricky and you decide to go for strong reading glasses rather than some device with a magnifying glass in it, my advice is, get good quality ones.

I bought some +3.5's from the Pound Shop specifically for coil building and they're great Giles. I guess it depends on the quality of the cheapies, like anything.

I got a truly Amazing pair of ready specs from Boyes in Kendal a few weeks ago. They have an L E D light on each side that you can switch on and off as you want. Never thought if using them for Coil builds!
