I was brought up hearing them nearly everyday coz of tourism, being a highlander.
If you get the chance to feel a massed pipe band do (note the wording though as for safety you should wear ear defenders or risk deafness).
A big pipe band shake the very scenery much like rock music does (even when the band is not made up of loads of burly big blokes).
