I've been thinking a lot about this. There are quite a few vapourers in my family. I gave up very quickly, as did my brother in law who was the one who first discovered it. As I said before it took my hubby about a year from first trying vaping to being totally off the cigarettes, but right from the start he cut down on smoking by at least half, and had periods during that year when he was on 1/2 or even 0 cigarettes a day.
My mother in law is over 70. My brother in law bought her a set for her birthday. It was one of the ones with separate liquid and a bigger battery etc. She was very wary of it. I talked to her a lot and actually ended up getting her a cig-a-like kit as it was "simpler" and didn't need refilled etc. The only useful function it served was to convince her just how good her original kit actually was. She has been off the cigarettes completely for a while now, and doesn't find the filling and things at all complicated now that she is used to it.
It is difficult to explain to a none smoker just how important the "hit" really is. Nicotine is very addictive. Getting the hit from the cigarette or alternative is calming, and reassuring. We have learnt to associate that with our nicotine. If the device just isn't strong enough to replicate that, then the success rate isn't great.
There is only so much battery power and liquid that you can squeeze into something the size of a cigarette. That is the simple truth, and there are far to many firms out there trying to claim differently.
People here on the forum are desperate for other people to learn from our mistakes. We have wasted money and it makes us feel good to prevent other people from doing the same. We are also very very keen to add to the number of people who have found what is ultimately a realistic and effective way of stopping smoking.
Please remember we want your husband to stop too! We want you both to succeed. We are listening to what you are saying, and are trying to help.

The Boge kit is a little ugly to my taste. I remember Steve Jobs once said that if the product looks good it will encourage the user to use it more often

Signing up for something is a catagorical NO-NO. At the end of the day, if you want to buy him a simple starter e-cig, I say that is GREAT!

WOW! Maybe later....but not at this stage If you let him "waste" money on the big impressive stuff, then you will give him a real incentive to make this work. The boys and their toys mentality has got more than a few off the cigs

irenevork81Just had a look see at that site with the offer on... what happens if you want to contact them directly? can't see a phone contact on there. Would suggest you proceed with the greatest caution. The old adage.."if it seems to good to be true, it usually is"

Added to what charon has said, that companies website is actually breaking the law! Apart from not having a phone number, there is no returns policy or terma & conditions.

Thanks again. I notice that there is a big "obsession" with price. Even when the difference is not a lot in the initial stages. I really don't mind if the price is £50 instead of £30 or £20..I will not get richer or poorer, and I don't subscribe to the view that a penny saved is a penny earned, I am more of a make more money rather than save more money girl . I will go with the starter kit at shop4ecigs.co.uk becouse I like the design. If it does not work out..well..I tried. If it does, he will find his own way in the maze of the electronic cigarette choices out there. Thank you for your support Welcome to you Irene, it's brilliant that you want to try and encourage your hubby to drop his smoking habit in favour of vaping. A happier, less smelly and healthier lifestyle for you all if he does. The only obsession we have on our forum, is finding smokers an electronic alternative that will give them the best possible experience, which in turn will make switching considerably less stressful, for everyone. Smokers can be incredibly hard to convince that there is a better alternative to burning tobacco, buying decent kit is a huge part of the process being successful. Sadly I don't think the kit you intend buying for your OH will do that, although hopefully it might spark his curiosity enough to go on and look for something that will fulfill his needs.

I've had the sky cigarette package for a year (whilst smoking 20 a day ) I got mine on a £9.99 groupon deal starter kit, 1 box, 2 batteries and 5 cartomisers. I then bought various cartomisers from them as I will agree that it was useful for overnight stays in hotels etc, but it certainly didn't make me want to swap over from smoking! Absolutely no throat hit, but least I didn't wall climb in non smoking hotels or find myself stood outside (in my pjs) at 4am in the morning but very very unsatisfying... and added to that, every time I needed to rely on it, the battery light flashed and the damn battery had died! A year on I thought i'd try one of those (slightly ridiculous looking cigar things...) where you add liquid and look a bit daft ( I thought) gosh NO! who cares how I look I'm now so eager to brazen it out with my 6 hour lasting battery and an all day liquid tank that actually tastes nice, is satisfying AND I haven't smoked for 3 weeks and quite frankly, don't plan to Now don't get me wrong, thank you sky cigs, you started me on my path, I now know what wont suit me, full time. I will say that a friend of mine has been vaping on sky cigs for over a year quite happily -- but she still buys occasional packs of smokes.....she was so surprised to hear I'd quit that she ordered a cheap starter 'cigar/ego type with tank' and stated that its much better than her sky cigs. She plans to smoke skycigs out publicly until the batteries quit forever and stay with ego system. If the system you think is the most attractive and wish to buy on behalf of husband is what you plan to get, please just check the small print that you aren't locked in for months! just in case he isn't interested or satisfied with your choice of vaping kit, is my suggestion

I got a lot of funny looks and comments when I first started vaping nearly 2 years ago now. Not so much when using a cig-a-like but nobody new what an Ego/Riva was, noone round here had ever seen one before. Now, even in rural Scotland people seem to be 'getting' it. Everyone seems to know what it is and they are becoming so common. It's fab not having to explain any more Also, when trying to find a 510 cig-a-like for the OP I realised that a lot of our well respected vendors just aren't stocking them anymore. More people must now be starting on the bigger batteries

see, the way I'm doing the maths is: 30 a day smoking= £10 per day. Cig-alikes (sky cig in my case) need 2 cartomisers @£2 each = £4 a day. Using tank system, bar initial costs, 1 coil per fortnight + e-liquid = £4 A WEEK - MAX!!! total bargain

Hi irenevork81I really identify with the above. I started my vaping journey a couple of years ago and even though my hubby saw the obvious benefits to switching, he took a long time to even try vaping. I had to be very patient with him as I knew if he felt pressured by me he would dig his heels in! There are a lot of smokers who feel under pressure to quit from so many different angles that their reaction is to do the opposite. Eventually he made the decision for himself and he's now very happy not to be a slave to tobacco. I really believe this needs to be your husbands choice, with some gentle persuasion from you Hope I haven't offended charlie
