Efest Luc V4 charger issue

Upgraded to one of these chargers and they do look really smart and functional.
i charged a couple of AW IMR 18490's and when both displays were showing 4.2 volts and still appeared to charging I was a little concerned.

Took batteries of the the unit and on testing with a multimeter both batts were at 4.5 volts !

now I know my multimeter is quite accurate and the same batteries when charged on my old trust fire always measure 4.18 on my multi meter even if left on charge longer than necessary.

ive been in touch with the vendor and they are looking into it regarding current stock.

I've seen a few people looking to buy or using these chargers so you may wish to check battery voltage with a reliable meter after a charge to ensure your not overcharging too.

my new charger is safely boxed back up until I hear back from the vendor.

That was a known problem with version 1 which was supposedly fixed in version 2 which came out a few months ago. Perhaps you have been sold a version 1 from old stock?

Time will tell I guess when the vendor get backs to me. There a reputable outfit so I'd be surprised if it's old stock given the known issue with version 1.

I had one that over-charged (purchased 31.3.2014) pretty sure it was the new model and returned as faulty, post about it. ronaldo said he had quit a few to repair, but it was uneconomical as the voltage regulator was not good enough.

True, it's been mentioned here several times.

The displays don't register anything above 4.2v so wouldn't warn you of overcharging at 4.5v.

I would normally advise against buying an Efest Luc as i'm not sure how you tell a V1 from the rest.

correct very unrelable chargers we get 4-12in every week and wright them off as uneconomical to repair its always the same fault the regulator and the v2 is as bad as the v1 now i haveseenone charge a battery up to 5.2 volt

Mines still ok, actually under charges.
How often do you reckon I should check it? Once a week on variety of batteries?

I can cope with that I suppose, everything has come out 4.12-4.14 so far.
