Hi guys!
Ive gone mental and ordered everything possible and forgot batteries.
After spending the last 4 hours trawling the forums and different vendors/amazon/ebay torchy etc etc Im still none the wiser. Alot of vendors dont seem to categorically state protected/unprotected - Neither does torchy (unless I'm missing it within his description)
I have a Kamry K1000, two more mechanical mods, a Sigelei Zmax and a Vamo V2 all being delivered in a few days and at current I have one 18350 battery with my TECC telescope mech mod which I presume is protected as I bought it from my local totally wicked vape shop.
Please can someone recommend me some guarenteed unprotected 18350 batteries that wont kill me
And also some protected 18650 + 18350 batteries for my Vamo V2 + Zmax
Am I reading the battery descriptions wrong? is there something else that tells you its protected/unprotected

Im sure your sorted now. A list of batteries that are suitable to use in mods can be found here battery buying guide. I would use IMR unprotected batteries in all your mods including mechs. They are much safer, in that they wont burst into flames should things go bad.

Protected and unprotected is old technology and relates to older volatile ICR batteries, Some manufacturers were so nervous of them exploding that they added an inbuilt fuse.
These days we have IMR batteries, often referred to as safer chemistry, they don't come with An inbuilt fuse because they are safer, they vent gasses rather than explode.
Use IMR in everything, they are much safer and much simpler if you have a selection of devices.

hear hear! markm One of the clearest and simplest explanations to date Its taken me at least 6 weeks to get to understanding this is the answer to our battery needs. I really should have a word document open for copy/pasting the perfect answers to 'everything vape' thanks! no I'm not planning plagiarism...

The only problem with IMR unprotected batteries is that it is possible to drain them too far. Protected won't let you do this.
If they're in a mod with electronics then that normally takes care of it.
If in a mech. mod, then you have to be aware of their charge state yourself.
