What was the last book you read? Who is your favourite Author? Mine was The Pantheon by Sam Bourne. My favourite book which I read and reread is; Star of the Sea by Joseph O' Connor. At the moment I am heavily into Thrillers, not a fan of Romantic /Horror stories.

Love Lee Child!! At the moment I'm reading Patricia Briggs - the Mercy Thompson series I read just about anything really except romance, I don't like romance novels. My favourites are probably crime fiction.

Lee Child - The killing floor - the 1st of the Jack Reacher novels, I'll be getting more, very good 8/10 Zeitoun - Dave Eggers - True story about a family caught up in the Katrina hurricane in New Orleans, decent 7/10 Game of Thrones - George RR Martin - Read all 5 in the series so far, awesome - 9/10 The Hunger games - Suzanne Collins - Read the trilogy, interesting story, think it's being made into a movie 8/10 The First Law trilogy - Joe Abercrombie - Best till last, amazing set of books this one, Inquisitor Glokta was the star of the show, brilliant character. 10/10 Plenty of duffers I've read too, but I'll not mention them

The last ones I really got into were Patrick O'Brian, Master and Commander and all that, starting with the first and going right through. Brilliant series, and I could easily command a three masted man of war now imo.
The book that makes me feel 18 again, when I first read it, is Breakfast Of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut.
My other favourite book (SF) is Excession by Iain M Banks, I also like a lot of his other stuff. Song Of Stone is a good one, dark though.
I'll have a look at Lee Childs, thanks.

I have read all Lee Childs book, now gong to read Robert Goddard books , you would like him Beeratz thrillers right till the end. Can't get on with Iain Banks books.
Will read up on some of the other authors mentioned.

Good thread. I went for years and years without reading a good novel, but recently got back into it and I'm on the lookout for recommendations.
Last read Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut. Describes the aftermath of a global financial meltdown, very appropriate and very funny.
Prior to that did Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe and The Woodlanders by Thomas Hardy.

I am a voracious rearder and read anything I can lay my hands on including the Railway Timetable..A finer work of fiction cannot be found elsewhere..
I like my espionage and thrillers though. My favourite books are
The Seven Minutes By Irving Wallace
All of Michael Cordy Books. Many of Ludlum's, Baldacci, Wilbur Smith..The list is endless..

Don't seem to get much time for reading now, although I love it Phoenix . . . the last two books I read were:
The Lovely Bones - Alice Sebold
Boy in the Striped Pyjama's - John Boyne
