The OKS "Roll Your Own" Flavours have been one of my "always in stock" choices for many years. I just ordered and received a "re-stock" and realised that I hadn't reviewed these liquids since the "old" UK Vapers days... In "the old days" these flavours were named by the roll-up tobaccos they were intended to taste like, but time and the possibility of litigation has moved on, and now you will have to guess that from the liquids current names. I doubt you will struggle somehow OKS's RYO flavours can be bought in regular or double flavour and in strengths from zero to a very robust 38mg. I buy these in Double Flavour 30mg or "extra" strength as three 50ml bottles in a "multipack" for approx £50 - so not cheap liquids. I'm going to review three of the RYO liquids: "Drummer", "Old H" and "Virginia Gold". (OKS also do "Autumn Leaves" RYO). OKS have never been very forthcoming about PG/VG balance - the liquids have both in is about all... (My guess is majority VG but couldn't swear to that). Edit to add: I've just been told they are 30/70 PG/VG. I shall do the actual reviews over the coming days/weeks - I like these liquids but want to do my "standard reviews". So as a taster here are some pictures:

Right! So my first "revisit" to the OK Smokey "Roll Your Own" flavours is "Drummer" For this, I recoiled my Snapdragon RDA with a single 0.5omh Clapton coil, wicked it with Japanese "Puff" cotton and, having filled up with Drummer, set the airflow to "tight". (I didn't want massive airflow with 30mg juice). The liquid is noticeably thicker than the high PG naturally extracted tobacco liquids I mostly vape nowadays. It has good strong gold colour and smells of ... well, er, tobacco with a certain aromatic quality added - a woody/toasty element and some sort of "fruitcake" fruit I'm struggling to name. When vaped, the liquid really does have a "roll-up" taste with very very little sweetness - the aftertaste is tobacco with a passing fruitiness. I never smoked Drum so couldn't comment whether the similarity in names betokens anything Unsurprisingly with 30mg liquid on 0.5ohm coil (about 35w in my mech) the hit is excellent - and distinctly "roll up". The aftertaste does not over linger, but does leave my mouth a tad dry. The vapour - of which there was a lot! - actually smells of "aromatic rolls-up" but the smell is very short-lived. Whilst this liquid lacks the subtlety of flavour of a naturally extracted juice, it does provide a "close to smoking" experience and is really very good.

My next "revisit" to the OK Smokey "Roll Your Own" flavours is " Virginia Gold" For this, I dry-burnt and rewicked my my Venturi RDA (fitted with a single 0.7 ohm twisted Kanthal coil) with Japanese "Puff" cotton and, having applied a liberal quantity of "Virginia Gold" set the airflow to "fairly tight". (This is 30mg juice). As before the liquid is thicker than the high PG naturally extracted tobacco liquids I mostly vape nowadays. Like the Drummer, the liquid has a good strong gold colour and, in this case, smells of tobacco with a quite strong fruity sweetness to the odour. When vaped, the liquid really does have a Virginia style tobacco taste with a slightly smokey but noticeable sweetness - the aftertaste is tobacco but is somewhat dominated by a fruit sweetness. Overall the vape is "heavier" than Drummer. Unsurprisingly with 30mg liquid on a 0.7ohm coil (about 25w in my mech) the hit is excellent - and "roll up" with a bit of "pipe". The sweetish aftertaste does linger a bit, and again is rather mouth drying. The strong vapour produced has a noticeably "Virginia" smell, but this doesn't hang about. Whilst not a complex liquid this does (again) provide a "close to smoking" experience and is a very good vape. If pushed I would say I prefer the Drummer, but Virginia Gold is most acceptable nonetheless.

My last "revisit" to the OK Smokey "Roll Your Own" flavours is what I regard as "the daddy of the group " - Old HFor this, I again dry-burnt and rewicked my my Venturi RDA (fitted with a single 0.7 ohm twisted Kanthal coil) with Japanese "Puff" cotton and, having "Old H"'ed it up, reset the airflow to "fairly tight" as before. (This is 30mg juice remember). As with the others the liquid is thicker than the high PG naturally extracted tobacco liquids I mostly vape nowadays. The liquid has a very strong gold colour and, in this case, smells of "roll-up" style tobacco with just a hint of a spicy fruitiness to the odour. When vaped, the inhale provides pronounced "roll-up" flavour and feel and has a smokiness quite different from the other two flavours I've reviewed here. In terms of being "like a smoke" this gets closer than more or less any non-NET juice I've tried. The aftertaste is a smokey-tobacco one with a hint of sharpness and doesn't leave any sweetness or overly dry out the mouth. The liquid gives me a satisfying hit and all-round vape experience. The vapour has a tobacco smell to it which passes quickly. Whilst lacking the complexity of an NET this juice gets surprisingly "close to smoking". I've bought quite a lot of this over the years. A friend and fellow Professor from Devon (who was one of my first vaping converts) has been using this liquid more or less exclusively for over five years - speaks volumes I think.

In case anyone is thinking of ordering any OKS juice between now and early January, I've noticed that qualifies you to enter a "name the OKS flying pig" competition to win a limited edition solid silver drip tip plus £100 worth of OKSmokey e-liquids of your choice.

i enjoyed my revisit so much, I thought I would revisit/visit a few more OK Smokey flavours - confining myself to those available in both single and double strength flavours. The next one is another roll-you-own one - " Autumn Leaves" - at 30mg in DF form. For this, I dry-burnt and rewicked my my Snapdragon RDA and Derringer RDA (each with a single twisted Kanthal coil) with Japanese "Puff" cotton and set the airflows to "tight". (This is 30mg juice remember). The liquid is a strong mid gold colour and very clear. It smells distinctly of tobacco with just a hint of something like dried fruit. The liquid flows and drips really well but is thicker than my normal high PG liquids. When vaped, the liquid tastes pretty damn good and distinctly "mild roll-up". It tastes like a mild roll-up. The aftertaste is tobacco and noticeably "dry" - almost, but not quite, sour The hit is strong but surprisingly smooth and is biased to the inhale. The vapour smells very much like a mild roll-up and doesn't linger - or cause unwanted comment. Overall definitely a roll-up flavour - not "exciting" but a one which makes for a very "liveable-with" vape.

The fruity note you are looking for is dried plum.

Until a while back, the only "DF" (double strength flavour) OKS liquids were the "roll you own" flavours I've revisited thus far. However there are two more flavours available in DF nowadays which are "foreign cig" flavours. I thought I'd give these a try... The first of these is shown on the OKS website as "Danish Original", but when my bottle arrived, it looked like this: (The name on my bottle might be a clue as what the flavour is "paying homage to"? ) For this, I again dry-burnt and rewicked my my Snapdragon RDA and Derringer RDA (each with a single twisted Kanthal coil) with Japanese "Puff" cotton and set the airflows to "tight". (This is 30mg juice remember). Both atomisers had sub-ohm coils of around 0.6-0.75 ohms. The liquid is a strong gold colour (darker than Drummer for example) and, as usual, very clear. It smells distinctly of a slightly toasted tobacco with a "fruit cake" element. The liquid flows and drips really well but is thicker than my normal high PG liquids. When vaped, the liquid has an unsweet (but not "dry") and fairly "full" tobacco taste with an edge of dried fruit and nut. This is NOT a UK cig-style type tobacco - more of a "blended" variety. The aftertaste is not strong and only slightly mouth drying. For me, this is a very acceptable flavour... Unsurprisingly, given the "tools used", the hit is strong but, in common with most OKS liquids, smooth and biased to the inhale. The vapour has a marginally fruity tobacco smell and happily doesn't linger or cause unwanted comment. Overall definitely a "continental cig" flavour...

This is the second of the "foreign cig" flavours from OKS available in Double Flavour (and last of all the DF offerings) - EmperorI have no idea what this flavour "pays homage" to... For this, I dry-burnt and rewicked my my Snapdragon RDA and Eviva D RDA (each with a single twisted Kanthal coil) with Japanese "Puff" cotton and set the airflows to "tight". (This is 30mg juice remember). The liquid is a similar strong gold colour to Sesil and, as always, very clear. It smells distinctly of a sweetish smokey tobacco with a peppery fruit element. As normal with these liquids liquid flows and drips really well but is thicker than my normal high PG liquids. When vaped, the liquid has a peppery sweet tobacco taste with a dry floral note - most definitely not a UK type tobacco - a "European", but in no way Gallic, cigarette. The aftertaste is not strong but noticeable with - again - an oddly dry sweetness. The hit is strong but surprisingly smooth and is balance between inhale and exhale. The vapour has a noticeable pepper and floral odour, but this doesn't appear to linger. A decent vape, not my favourite of those reviewed here, but likely to be popular with many.
