I got the metal tube too, but I hate not being able to see how much juice is in the tank! So I've put the plastic one on, will it be ok?

If it hasnt cracked already it should be fine, i havnt had any cracking problems with mine but iv only had one pg tobacco eliquid in it.;
There is a list somewhere i think which types of liquids/flavourings can crack plastic tubes, cant seem to find it though.

Aniseed juice can crack tubes too, if I remember any more, I'll add them.
Thought of some already, citrus juices, orange and lemon.
