Whilst on the subject of venting gases from a battery gone thermal venting from the bottom plate gives me no reassurance at all..Whilst it might prevent the mod throwing out shrapnel which is worse, it still will have the effect of firing the mod into the person who is holding it.

The Precise plus kind of venting arrangement which vents gases to the side, combined with at least one other layer of security like a hot spring for mechanical mods or electronic protection like the kick, provari would probably be best and I would uncomfortable with anything less.

Any mechanical mod that allows batteries to be stacked, even by way of abuse, should contain these features..
