I was so impressed with your artisanship (!) until I noticed the little brick wall underneath and realised you must mean that one Seriously though, I'm still very impressed indeed, and it will look wonderful when it's aged and mossy scylla

ROFL Scylla, I should have said it was the little brick retaining wall that I built The soil used to come out to where I've filled it in with tarmac (I've put hardcore & concrete below the tarmac). Just that extra couple of foot has widened the hardstanding enough to get 2 cars parked on there Really useful if I have a visitor as there is no parking in the lane itself as it's only single track.

I always felt you were just like my sister - she does all the DIY and gardening, her husband carries heavy things under instruction (but she still managed to slip a disc had to have an operation, it was terrible ). scylla

Brilliant Chrissie I love ya lil brick wall. I did one for myself at my old home with concrete blocks. Part of it was from the step near the back door right up the length of the main wall upto the wall against the back street then across to the gate way in the middle of the wall. Id put the gate way in too. Then I put another flower bed from the other side of gateway right to the kitchen wall. When the plants had got growing they looked great. So great a neighbough asked if Id do hers which I did but hers was with stones. Then I put a fence up for her to grow plants up I was a good handy man. I'll look for my dry stone wall pictures.

And this is about a 3rd to a quarter of the field wall I built. It were a long wall and it wouldnt have shown well if I took the full length but its at least some of it. It took me going on 2 years to build. Chrissie, your wall looks good. Did you make the mortar?

Thankyou Scylla I was so pleased to build them. Me mum and dad didnt ask. Twas something I wanted to do. The garden wall hadnt been done for over 40years so I thought it needed repairing. One of my brothers has grown a leylandi hedge behind it and trims it every year
