Chrissie, so pleased little Kezie is all happy again. MM Scyll, you mentioning James's radio - I can't get any sound - not only on his. It seems to have stopped since I installed the new AVG but it worked - not first day but okay second day but now not!! I've had a look around - I used to be able to find an audio place that I would just change something and it would be okay - but can't find that now. Any ideas anyone??? Back later, must do some work. MM

Oh dear, I don't expect I can help What operating system? XP, Vista, 7? (I wonder if it will do me any good to know ) You haven't muted the sound inadvertently? It could be done with a two-handed typo. There should be a speaker icon in the taskbar (bottom right), it's not got a red X on it, has it? I knew no good would come of persisting with AVG! Funnily enough, Gomezz, a big biker fella who advises on the Audio/Visual forums, said his AVG went haywire at the last update and he had to uninstall/reinstall ??? He's a bit aggressive so I didn't dare sound off about Microsoft's AV to him scylla x

MM. do you mean you can't get sound at all on your PC? Or is it just when listening to any online radio stations?

Well, somehow I have managed to get in here. Just thought I would have a look around things and found a new 'Virgin Net Broadband' in my Programmes list. Clicked on it thinking it would just be where the lady (Virgin) changed things. Anyway, I clicked something within it and it opened asking for my login name & password for broadband so I put in the Speedtouch one just out of interest - and here I am!!
Previously, I always had to click on the Speedtouch icon on the desktop. Well, this isn't on desktop
Very weird - the adviser lady kept telling me to look for Speedtouch. The two green lights are lit on the modem - in fact they have been all the time. So I am using it very gingerly in case it disappears again. MM
PS This morning I completely uninstalled the new AVG - that will please Scylla - whether that had anything to do with the above I don't know.

MM. I'm guessing as you are using a speedtouch modem, you aren't on broadband? If you have uninstalled AVG, please say you have installed the antivirus that Scylla recommended o Avast?

Dunno about "pleased" me, Madam, but it will "alarm" me greatly if you haven't put something in its place, like Avast or Microsoft I 'spect you have, you just like to tease Sorry you've had probs - so have I: When viewing a video on YouTube my lappy suddenly let out a very loud, continuous buzz and totally froze, I couldn't even switch it off by the power switch Grumps and a Floridian called Newt have been helping me to check and fix the system ??? ??? It happened a month ago and again 3 days ago, the first time I was watching David Bowie and the second time Fred & Ginge. scylla

Nope, I have installed anything to replace AVG yet - was scared to do anything last night in case the connection disappeared. But it seems okay at the moment.
I can't remember where the links are for Avast/Microsoft ....????
Chrissie I left my techy man to buy and install this computer several years ago. I just assumed I had to have Speedtouch moden - I know we had to wait for delivery.
Well, I will Google Avast and await more info on Microsoft one from Scyll. Hope I don't booger things u again. MM

Apart from you being invaded by a virus while you have no protection, another worry is that AVG is fully uninstalled. For some AV progs you need a special "removal tool" to get rid of it completely. I'll edit this when I get the MSSE link. Here ya go: www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/Honestly, once it's installed you won't know it's there BUT IT DOES LOOK AFTER YOU. I'm going to the techie board to ask about AVG uninstallation. Yes, you need AVG removal tool from here: www.avg.com/gb-en/download-toolsIt should be the top link in the list. (Seen your email - for XP it will be the top one in the list.) You didn't say what operating system you have TO RECAP: Before you install another AV, you should use the AVG Removal Tool. Anti-virus progs interfere with each other. My wifi's been dropping out all night and this morning I've emailed you Madam cos I'm worried about Googling with no antivirus - there are fake antivirus progs with names similar to ones we know. scylla x
